Title: Cherry picker
Post by: Dean Aspects on July 25, 2008, 11:39:24 am
Do you need a certificate to use one as i have read on here about people doing courses for them but i recently asked a painter that was using one and has done for years and he said he didnt have one and has never been asked when hiring them
I know some laws are different between England and Scotland could this be the case?
Can someone clarify this for me
And i suppose like everything else i will need to have insurance of some kind to use one on a building site

you do need a certificate to use a cherry picker and most hire companies will hire without asking as it is your responsibillity to be trained. each type of c/p needs a licence and more and more sites  (building or otherwise) will not let you work on site till they have seen your certificate, training is about 1 day and around £150.00 + vat

you will also need to have insurance to use it and against damage or theft to machine, most insurances companies cover this so just ask your current insurance for a quote,
