hi
i currently have a 18 foot pole from brodex, im looking to buy a new pole a 25ft pole i havent really looked properly yet but i have seen one from brodex the 25ft predetor?? what do u think of it for £157? is there any just the same but cheaper??

Hi Chan,
Most people will tell you to go for the Slx this is a 25ft carbon fibre pole ideal as an all round pole available from gardaner poles although it doesn't come cheap i think about £400 but is about the best you can get i don't personally have one but it gets great reviews if your going to go for the 25ft brodex g/f they did have a half price sale on it was £78+vat + delivery but not sure if it's still running if it's not i have one it's only been used twice and comes with a vikan sill brush all in first class condition( i only have a couple of jobs for that size pole) you can have it for £95 + delivery the reason i am selling it as i am going to get the slx for myself as i've decided to treat myself. But i will be honest with you if your going to use it as an everyday pole then i think you will find it a little on the heavy side and not ideal for doing the downstairs of houses.

No the same as i paid for it as delivery would be cheaper i've used it on 2 windows and if he was going to pay the full price for a new one then he would be making a great saving buying the one i have i'm not here to rip anyone off.. :) as you can see i have advised him agaisnt it if he was going to use it as an every day pole...

thanks for your advise paul ill let you know about it as soon as, the thing is as u said its not good for every day pole work, as what i need it for is every day bit fed up of my 18ft pole as top pole is startin to crack at the bottom an cant use it as high as id like but some times i find that if i had a pole with that extra couple of ft work wouldnt feel that much of a strech on some houses. how much heavier do u think it is than the 18ft??

if you need an extra couple of feet go for the gxtel 20. there good little poles and light too

Pole suppliers are getting worried if you ask me,i`ve had companies ringing me daily asking me to buy there poles etc and it`s all started since the SLX and on hearing the release of the new brush etc.IMO the WFP pole and brush manufacturers have stood still for to long,there isn`t enough good products on the market only a few when compared to each other.Unger bring a pole out which is re coloured with a green pole hose and a green vikan brush and call it new lol,a lot of them really think people are stupid and they won`t be getting my hard earned.

I'm not sure on the exact weight but i'm sure it would be to heavy for day in day out use i personaly couldn't think of useing it for that the only reason i got it was for a couple of jobs and to be honest i don't like useing it and have nearly saved up for a slx, but i would agree with x-line if you just want something a couple of foot longer then go for something like the gxtel 20.

going on what others have said before I can't see any reason why a newby wouldn't go for an SLX - ok I understand money can be tight but if they can afford it then it definitely seems to be the way to go.
I think I'll be getting one too.

I would agree there is enough positive statments about the slx but it's not cheap but not over expensive (by the sounds of it well worth the money tho) and is not truley needed for domestic work i see it more as a luxury to have then a necessity to have..

not a necessity but a window cleaners work is his business - any business will use the most advantageous tools and equipment they can - so if you can afford it then its probably a wise investment.
but yes if you haven't got the money then you need to look at gxtel or even the hxtel.

IMO the sl-x is THE pole, yes, it may be 400 quid (still cheaper than the facelift, & better) but it will be the best 400 you could invest into wfp!
The pole, in this game makes ALL the difference!

I disagree it isn't a luxury but not essential. From what I can gather an slx will last a lot longer than an Xtel. Yes a Xtel is cheaper but a slx will last much longer. If you buy an xtel and then have to replace it every few months then that will push up your costs. I guess that only time will tell but if an Slx lasts twice as long than a 27ft xtel (the closest pole they do) then it will cost roughly the same. If it lasts 3 times as long then your laughing. so the initial cost maybe more but in the long run it could actually turn out to be the cheaper option, as i said only time will tell.

But, keep in mind an sl-x will save you time, make your job easier etc. thus earning you more money, It's a win win situation for the sl-x.

Totally agree just meant that even if it didn't save time etc then you could still be on to a winner (money wise) if it is going to last longer. As I said only time will tell how long an slx will last on average although I will be surprised if it does not last longer.

I have a Facelift for high work on windy days, sl-x for domestics (excellent) hybrid x-tel pole as a cheaper alternative and SL-2 in the post hopefully.
If you are on a budget and money really is an issue I would honestly recommend a Hybrid x-tel pole as it is much more stiffer in comparison to a glass fibre version and you really would notice the difference.
A lot of people say buy an SL-X but it's a case of keep dreaming if money's tight and I don't blame you.
Honest opinion........buy a hybrid x-tel as it's very good value pole for the money and rigid enough for what you need at the price you can afford. It may not last as long as a SL-X but it will do until you can afford to upgrade to a better quality pole.

A Porsch or Mercedes is a better quality car than say a Ford Mondeo but you won't see everybody driving around in them simply because they're too expensive and people have to live within their means.
Buy the best pole you can afford and the dividends will pay off but remember your budget and stick to it :)
