Title: Problem Stain?
Post by: Matt Eyles on February 02, 2005, 04:37:53 pm
Customer as spilt some Liquid Iron Food Supplement on a grey 80/20 twist (main ingredient is Iron Ascorbate) which has turned a small area Dark Brown/Black.
When the survey was carried out hardly any residue came off with a regular spot cleaner but I know the stain will at least slightly improve!
Customer now has a low expectation level on result but would be nice to completely remove!
Any ideas on removal as have never come across this type of stain/product before??

Matt

Have to ask

Did they try to remove it and if so what did they use?

Did you try cold-water extraction first or did you just go in with a regular spotting agent?

Have you tried rust remover on a Q tip.

Going next week to clean the rest of the carpet and to try and remove stain.

The customer says she only tried warm water on it and all I have done is try a regular spotter as a test which will definitely not remove it!

As no previous experience of this type of stain I am not sure what product to use on it!

I would read label of said item and determine what is actually in it, do a search of products and this may inform you the best course of action. It well could be rust remover or perhaps a de-browning treatment but remember test test test!

Please don’t take this to heart so you took the word of a customer then you went in with all guns blazing with an agent even on a small area. Have to admit I do thing differently to you, never known water to set a mark/stain but every one to the own method.

And no I have not come across this type of mark/stain but there is always tomorrow!
