Been asked to quote for a WC job on a building site.
It would appear that before he could give us the job, we would need to have a CSCS certificate.
I have gone online and it takes approx 1 - 1.5 days before certificate is awarded.
Is this certificate necessary as this is a long time away from the earning scene?
-
depends if you want to be paid
if you do then yes it is neccesary
-
piece of pi55 to complete.common sense really.

Builders cleans, are they worth it?
-
I would hate to do builders cleans.
I know you can make some good money, ut it just seems like so much hard work
i'm quite happy just cleaning windows that are still pretty clean from last month!

Since no-one else seems to be bothered to give you a proper answer! Yes the cscs is necessary for site work. It is a simple test of your H&S skills in a computer based multiple question test (just like the driving theory test) and takes about 40 mins max to complete (don't understand where they got the timescale they give you from!) and to be frank is easy! The card is to prove that if you go on a site that you have some understanding of the h&s issues relating to sites in general. The card is valid for 5 years from issue (after which a retest is in order). At the moment it is not compulsory but it will be by next year so if you see potential for a long run of work in this area then yes it is worth getting. A good place that arranges them is job skills direct, they will do all the monkey work for you, just turn up and do the test and they will arrange the rest they will take your picture there and then and if you pass in a few days your card will turn up as if by magic!

You say that but if you could earn at least 4 times as much but with only twice as much hassle is that a bad thing?
