Ok guys - Mark's got my site up and running now although I have got to add some more images soon ( before you all start moaning about its content ! ;D)
So now I need some links.
I am using Link Machine and I haven't had a chance to fully read through it yet so if you add a link request please be patient with me as I may not get round to it until tomorrow night, unless I pick it up quick.

So link away !!

Steve
Just added you to 2 of my sites (clean-pro & cleanpro-services). You should have them on your link machine ready to approve ;)

To be honest I haven't fully read up on it yet, but I understand it can make the whole process a bit simpler.
I'm sure some of the other guys reading this will explain it better - then I can learn too !
But it was recommended by someone whos opinion I respect.
Steve

Kev - perhaps you can explain it in laymans terms, is it simply a case of me accepting your link then the machine takes care of it or is it more involved ?
Presumably this will be a different process to me adding my link to Goron's site.

Thats right Steve. For those of us a bit more experienced we should fill out your form so all you need to do is press "approve site" then "generate links" just until you get up to speed. I have filled in your form and added yours to mine so like Kev's you just have to ok it.
Happy too go through it with you tomorrow pm if you want.

Hi Steve
Basically yes. Its far easier to 'accept' a site than to do it the other way around. This means you have to put in all the other sites info in by hand (which takes time) then go onto the website where you want to be placed and fill in the form telling them where their link is.
On your linkmachine (if it is that) you should have a list of sites on a page with details of websites, their link to your site and their own website link for you to have a look at. If you like what you see then simply click 'approve' or if you dont like them then click 'decline'. Once you have clicked 'accept' it will load it all automatically, but you can click 'generate pages' (which means it will add the links onto your webpage) just to make sure.
Hey presto. It takes a bit of getting used to especially setting it up. But once its done its great!

Steve added yours mate on my Resources page await approval from Link machine

Pete, Mark and Kev
Been on Link Machine and approved all your links, haven't got to the generate links part yet.
Is there anyway of you checking your end to see if it done or doesn't it work that quick ?
Steve
-
Steve checked my links there cheers
Steve ask over on Windowcleaners for links.
-
Steve
My clean-pro.co.uk is there, but cleanpro-services.co.uk isnt :(
-
Kev
On the list there was only one entry for you. Have I done something wrong or do you have to send it seperately.
Mark
Yes mate gonna go on window cleaners bit next week. Mark Roberts advised me to get 6-10 links per week, apparently google doesn't like you getting loads all at once, it's better to stagger it.

Steve
Thats a bit weird. Your definately listed on my site - go here to see: www.cleanpro-services.co.uk/linkmachine/resources/resources_carpet_cleaning.html
Maybe you could add it manually?
-
Kev
I have generated the links now so they appear on my site - definately only one of yours there.
This might be a good one for me to try manually. Any chance of telling me SIMPLY ;D what to do ?
Cheers mate

Linked to you, thanks mate

Steve
I think it goes something like this:
Go to 'add link pages'
Then scroll down and click 'add pages manually' then next or continue at the bottom.
Then fill in whats required i.e. my name, then my e mail, then my website address, the link where it is on my site (www.cleanpro-services.co.uk/linkmachine/resources/resources_carpet_cleaning.html), then the site details (same as clean-pro).
Then continue - or whatever is at the bottom. Then that should be it. You can click 'generate pages' just to make sure.
-
What am I doing this process on Kev - your links page or mine or indeed linkmachine.
Steve
-
Your linkmachine page Steve. You must have to log into it - even just to view the sites and approve/decline them. Thats if your using linkmachine?
-
Yes definately linkmachine Kev - I'll give it a try now
Steve
-
Did it work Kev ?
-
YES! Well done Steve, easy innit.
-
Don't know about easy mate - I definately prefer the auto route ;D
Thanks Kev, appreciate it
Steve
-
No worries mate.

Sorry lads - but ever since these "linkmachines" started being used, what, 6 months ago I have been left behind adding peoples links and having mine added.
You see, I have no control over links other then telling my web man can you do this, then I am in his hands as to when he does it. (He does it free at this moment).
So I feel a bit lost, cause if I say to someone I will exchange links, my info could be put on theirs straight away but it could be a month or more before theirs appears on mine.
What was wrong with the "old" system?
-
There's nothing wrong with it Joe! It just automates it all and for the lazy people like me its a godsend ;D.
Truthfully though, it free's up a bit of time because you dont have to a lot of the work, and more importantly it stops 'dodgy' links. When honest people like us start swapping links manually then it doesnt stop companies from deliberately removing your link from their website after you have placed theirs. It does happen and also not forgetting outdated links. When people change websites or upate them they might have a different page replaced, but again you wont know this and quite merrily presume that your links are posted everywhere.
Link machine checks all these links automatically and if it finds any missing it will automatically send them an e mail telling them so. If they dont put it back on then you simply remove their link from your website ;D
If you stick to just putting in CC links - hey we are all honest so you should be ok ;)
-
Anyone else want to link, where are all the usual suspects ;D
Steve

All on Hols Steve call back in Sept ;D
-
Lol ;D
Looks like I am going to have to raid their links pages for info.
