Title: 1st Leather job
Post by: Steve Barnett (Carpet Care Plus) on July 16, 2008, 08:38:33 pm
Did my first leather clean and protect today.

Cream pigmented 3 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 suite, filthy !

Took 4 hours, charged £ 320.

Thats paid for my LTT training course and my day out at Paul's the other week, so all profit from now on !

Rather clean leather than upholstery any day.

How did you find the LTT course compared to the school of Moss?

I went to Pauls and was well impressed, just need an old chair to practice on now  ;)

Glad I went to Paul's first as I wasn't out of my depth on the first day of LTT.

I think with anything if you learn how to do it by the book, so to speak, then you can be a little more cavalier - no offence Paul  ;D  safe in the knowledge that you know how to get out of trouble if things go belly up !

Searching for an old chair too mate.

Steve, well done.  :D

See guys £320 for cleaning a leather suite ( granted a big one) but it just goes to show you can get good bucks if you try.

Mike I hope you are quoting £150 now !!! ;)

Too right Joe.

Paul, only done one leather quote since last post and went £150, they're getting back to me. ;D This has got my goat a bit so I will find a way. These were middle income new estates I've been trying.

Have decided to base my leather prices on £ 40 per seat area.

Took a bit of a flyer with this one, but it cost over 3 grand and hadn't been cleaned in the 3 years they have owned it.

Yeah I was happy with that Paul, am going back on Friday morning to clean the Lounge and Playroom carpet - so the whole job came to £455.

Chucked in 15m2 of protector for the Lounge free of charge, so everybody wins  ;)

That's a nice site that Kev.

That brown suite on the right is it a two tone that just lost colour on some panels for no reason?

That picture of you Kev - reminds me I must wear latex gloves next time, one of the products I used today made the skin on my wrist flake off !

Good website Kev.

I like the pinny and gloves. Makes the customer think they are getting something "special" - which they are.

Paul

You naughty boy - that reminds me, I actually need to wear full overalls, flipping pigment gets everywhere!

Mike

Well spotted, the brown sofa is not one of mine unfortunately (when I get some more of my own I will replace ). It is an aniline though so probably just had a re-dye in the affected area.

Steve

What on earth did you use for your skin to come off! You have me worried now LOL.

Mark

You are a gent sir. The sites have good SEO done by myself as have the sites themselves. Hard work but I quite enjoy it. I know we are fairly local but your not my neighbour - and there is plenty of work for all of us so all cool ;)

Joe

Cheers for the comment, I hope they think its special!

Yes Kev agree plenty of carpets out there  :)

I am enjoying learning about SEO as well,  rather new to it though.

I agree you must have put allot of thought and time into some clever SEO.

Kev

All I used was LTT Strong in the main - LTT Maxi on the filthy seat areas, Lazy Leather on the backs which were against the walls anyway and then finish off with LTT protector.

Can only assume if anything it is the Maxi that caused the skin to flake on my wrist.

Not sore or inflamed - just a bit flakey, bit like me  ;D

Hi Steve
The Maxi Cleaner which is a very strong detergent would most likely be the cause.  It happened to me once when we were doing a car interior as we tend to work a lot with our hands during application.
Only seems to happen on soft, sensitive skin  ;D  Wear gloves in future when using the Maxi Cleaner!!
Good to hear it went well and you charged a sensible price.

Cheers Andy  ;D

Thats why it happened on my wrist, not my hands which are like sandpaper !

Products worked well, actually enjoyed spreading it about by hand as you showed me before agitating, definately cuts down on product.

Be in touch soon for some more.
