Title: multi site cleaning
Post by: sfpcleaningservice on January 31, 2005, 10:57:25 pm
hiya all

has anyone or is anyone doing some sort of consortium cleaning, I ask this question because I am getting enquiries from all over the country and I assume there must be a way of dealing with these, its an awful thing when you say "sorry I cant help you" or " we dont cover that area yet".

I previously posted a comment on domestic cleaning saying that I would be willing to refer customers for a fee, I realise now this is not the way to go about it.

I know that these are only enquiries but my latest contacts were,/ restaurant london/ offices london/ offices hemel/ builders clean and offices manchester, these four enquired within the last week and its such a waste of a good lead.

I am only willing to pass on customer information and contact details if they give theire prior consent.

Is anyone using sub contractors to do this sort of coverage if so i would be grateful for any advice.

any ideas.

p.s  musicman

three of yhe jobs were seperate companies, the fourth one  who enquired has a total of about fifteen sites within uk one in ireland and some in e u .

hi there,

multi site cleaning is only really a question of logistics, and management,

if you wanted to talk about it then PM me, I am sure that a solution can be worked out,  sub contracting the work out is easily sorted, and quality mamgement reporting of all sites, back to one client contact, is a very good added feature.

On the occassions when I'm asked if we can provide a service outside our area I put a post up 'Hot lead in ...', and asking anyone interested to PM me with their details.

I then pass on the information to the client for them to do the rest. I cannot then be held accountable if they make a poor choice.

I am aware of two people on this forum who have gained contracts as a direct result of this.

I am not a fan of sub-contracting regular work as cleaning companies seem to have difficulties controlling work on their own door-step so I can't see how they can properly manage a site through a third party.

It would be nice if everyone with a lead could post it on here - hang on, let me take my rose-tinted specs off.  ;)

hi there,

musicman,

hello mate, i agree with what you are saying, but at the end of the day that is what the cleint is paying for, the management of multi site cleianing operations, and therefore all of the problems that are related to it.

Really the client is just delegating a task, of supplier management.  by using one supplier on a national or regional basis, they are reducing their accounting costs, and tryng to create economies of scale.

so its then down to the primary contractor to manage the contract in a professional manner.

regards

martin

Hi there Martin. I don't disagree with you if it is all one client and the economies of scale do come into play for regional/national contracts.

The way I read the original post (and I may be wrong) was that the enquiries were from more than one source - otherwise it seems a little odd to have three offices and one restaurant all in the same group.

For stand-alone sites I would always do the 'Hot lead in ...' on the forum but if it was a group of offices within the one group I would consider taking it on myself or subbing it - depending upon the size of the offices and number of locations.

Is that a reasonable compromise?  ;)

Have a good one mate.
