Post by: dmlservices on July 15, 2008, 09:01:53 pm
recently my ro pressure dropped from 50-60 psi , i have had it for 2 years, purhased from gardiners , have reguarlly changed pre filters , any way it has dropped to 25 psi , tap pressure is still the same . i thought it might be pre filters but have changed these - makes no difference . could restictor need replacing , or membrane's ? .any body had similar happen

It could be that the flow restrictor on the waste needs replacing.  If this has gone, it would explain the lack of back pressure on the pressure gauge.

It could be a partial blockage in one of the pre-filter housings or connectors.  If it is a partial blockage, unscrew the housings, clean them out and have a look to see if there is anything in each of the connectors between the housings.

hi all. after replacing filters , restrictor , ihave found the source of my problem. i ordered a set of pre filters from gardiners , but being out of stock of the carbon granular filters , they sent 2 filters and advised 3rd to follow , any way i fitted the 2 they sent , still low pressure , tap pressure is 60 psi , but going through ro pressure dropped to 25 psi :( so i then ordered a flow restrictor from ro man , only to recieve an e mail to say , 'order on hold out of stock of o rings' . i emailed back to ask if they would send restrictor seperate ,which they did arrived this morning , problem solved  ;D or so i thought  >:( fitted it still the same , so i stripped ro down , then ran water through each vessell head , to see if any were blocked, i then put glass filter containing the sediment filter , still fine , then the same with the new carbon filter. stiil fine , then i tried the middle filter -the one i had left inchanged , was not flowing well , blocked housing i thought , so removed filter and glass housing ,ran water through , was fine , re installed filter -not flowing through well , so the blockage was caused by the old filter. took it out assembled every thing back together - minus old filter - pressure back up to 50- 60 psi . just need to get new filter from alex, any ideas when it will be delivered alex?, and will i be all right running system - middle filter , and tds is stable .

You should have got the missing filter by now as I know they were back in stock a couple of days ago.  Hopefully it will come in the post tomorrow. If it doesn't, let us know and I can chase it up on Monday. As long as you have one carbon filter fitted (especially a brand new one) it will be protecting the membrane from chlorine.
