Title: Extracta or not??
Post by: *brightclean on July 15, 2008, 07:48:12 pm
Hi all, I was just wondering whether anyone ever uses Extracta machines or chems, it seems by the posts on here no one does, is there a reason for this?

My question is because I've just had a quote from them to supply new stuff? After joining this forum I may have a re think  ???  ???

Go for something with heat and a bit more than 135 psi and two twin vacs. Costs a bit more but the difference in performance in highly significant

well if i lived where you live and were looking at the same spec units then i would go for a unit thats more local to yourself in case the unit dies , if the exle drop motors which most portys do how quick will you bealbe to repair it ??? the longer its down the more money you  lose

If i was looking for a new Porty i would go for Solutions Scorpion, very powerful, 3 x 3 stage vacs 500psi and relatively lite, best porty IMO.

It must be one of the best portys for heat 1000w heater also has a pre-heat bypass so when your setting up put it to preheat the water circulates in the machine within 5-10mins water is roasting.

I used an excel for 3 years, and now occasionally only when i can't get in with tm. A very good machine and easy to work on.

However, if you are buying the spirit 2 because you are aiming at the dry cleaning market, look at older threads on here because there are cleaners who have bought them, only to then find them gathering dust in their garage due to lack of work for dry cleaning.

Just my opinion

If you want good on-board heat I think you got to look at the CFR500 Perfect Heat or its sister the Powerflite.

but I'm with Mark Shannon on this one - the Scorpion with 3 vac motors, use customers hot water or get an in line heater to boost it, they work well too.

Ashby Ninja with big pump, speedster, or powerflite from cleansmart because they give you a poo hot marketing guide when you buy a machine.

If you are going to buy local I would go to Cleansmart he's in Nottingham, I had a brief look at a Scorpion and it looked good but I'm a TM guy so to me it's a pea shooter :o, if you have a local Prochem dealer then you could go to them a negotiate a price.

I've decided to purchase the Raptor. The scorpian has no heater  ???  ??? That for me lets it down.

Prochems are underpowered, Ashbys are over priced and I've read on here back up service not good, Alltec we already have (want a change), Cleansmart are agents/distributors and can go bust at anytime, so I'd rather stick with the manufacturers themselves.

Any others I've missed?

Raptor has 300psi, in line heater and by what I've read no carbon brushes to worry about and is easy to work on.

I have been using a Extracta Excel for 5 years now and have always got terrific results combined with their Scrubber tool. Sure they are heavy but if you have a 15m and a 7.5m hose that you can join together there is no need to do any lifting up stairs etc...

Im not pretending to be vastly experienced with any other machinery or chemicals but I can honestly say the results I get are always top class and amaze my customers. They keep coming back and telling their friends put it that way!

I purchase their chemicals from them and have never been disappointed so why should I need to change? I have tried a few other chemicals from Prochem and Chemspec but did not notice any improvement in results although they didnt do a bad job I must say.

Extracta often get knocked on this forum for not 'changing with the times' and 'not bringing out better machines' but why fix something that isn't broken?

They are a local firm to me and always help me when I have a problem. I have also started buying bits and pieces from John Kelly at Restormate and will always buy there first as he is extremely helpful and knows the business!!

There may well be 'better' on the market but Im sticking with something does not let me down and gives what I consider excellent results.
