Have you tried white vinegar
-
After cleaning normally with HWE i have had success with following: Mix 30ml of Prochem B152 Oxybrite with 60ml of Prochem B162 Fibrebuff, with 250ml Prochem B105 fibre shampoo, in 5litres warm water. Wear gloves, using sponge apply foam only to fringes - allow to dry.

Welcome
What makes you think they should be white? Get rid of the truck.

white vinegar sounds interesting, whats the theory behind it. may give it ago, ive got 2 of these rugs and they dont have to be back till tuesday.

Your web site says Fully trained to NCCA standards with qualification certificate.
Are you members of the NCCA.
-
The vineger is for browning due to highish ph. If they are dirty and MS doesn't help try PSG or Fabric restorer.
As Len says getting them WHITE may be a mistake.
There are loads of threads on this subject including drying techniques with handtool etc.
-
not yet, i'm in the process of sorting all that out. only just been trained by paul pearce and pav, so any advice on the rug?????????
-
what technique should i use for the white vinegar, straight or mixed, agitate or soak time etc... i'll give it ago tomoz thanks
-
Straight vinegar agitate lots then keep repeating until no further improvement.Rinse and air a lot.Alan
-
white vinegar that is remember
-
cheers edge i'll try a couple of tassles and see what results i get, thanks again
-
i find hydrogen peroxide the best thing, esp if you have the rugs for a few days,
just apply it with a paint brush leave to dry and repeat several times until its
the shade you want it, what could be simpler ;)

I aqgree with Steve after cleaning with a cotton safe solution aply hydrogen peroxide.
As the tassels are wet from the intial clean it should be diluted enough.
I was gob smaked when I was taught this the other week but it works
-
to ian and steve, have you tried white vinegar, will it give me a good result. is this just as effective as hp, or should i skip the wv. advice much appreciated.

vinegar high PH?
-
The pH of vinegar depends upon how much acid is present, but most commercial distilled white vinegars contain 5% acetic acid and have a pH of about 2.4.

Hydrogen peroxide from hairdressing supplies.

cheers doug, and just to claify, white vinegar, not white wine vinegar, sorry not sure if there different, but i guess they are.
-
Hi Derek
White vinegar is different and should be cheaper than white wine vinegar.
It is basically a dilute solution, approx 5% of acetic acid in water, pH as mike says about 2.4.
Cheers

Most chemists sell hydrogen peroxide but you do have to ask for it, 9% is best if you can get it, dont think you can get any higher from the high street
personally speaking i find the hp works better than the vinegar, just my opinion tho

think i'll try the hydrogen peroxide, the tassles are dry should i wet them first, can i speed dry with a hair dryer or should they dry naturally to take effect, thanks for everything so far, just hope i can get it done tommorrow, got a job in the morning then straight on with the rugs for the rest of the day, heres hoping.
-
i normally clean the rugs and let them dry first then paint on the hp with a brush, you can accelerate it by mixing some ammonia with it and speed up the process by drying with a hair drier,
in my experience you have to do it maybe 3 or 4 times if they are really yellow or brown to make a difference but it does work, give a reasonable amount of time in between each application and dont get any on the actual rug and it would be good to wear gloves :)

For agitation i was shown the 'wine cork' method by John Bolton but i now use a wallpaper seam roller ;D
