Title: Help! please! Custom Tank needed!
Post by: Clean Dude on July 08, 2008, 04:35:17 pm
I would love to hear your suggestions on where to buy custom tanks from?

I've tried tek tanks, they quoted £650 +VAT for a custom 220 litre tank!!!  :o

Obviously I'd like some other quotes, so if you can recommend anyone, I'd be appreciative!!!!

Thanks in advance guys and gals....

You can have a custom stainless steel tank for £700 - 450litres.  Dual outlets, sight glasses, vent and maintenance access via 4" inspection hatch.

Yes, all very well but he won't sell you a tank that you design, because he has to design it himself.  Hardly 'custom made'.

I do want a tank designed really, to fit the specs of my van!

Kangoo is a well known model. I'm sure the people who sell them would know exactly how to sort you out.

That`s exactly what this guy does,he will do what you like from a standard type tank to weird and wonderful shapes. All you have to do is give him the shape and measurements and jobs a good`n.

Whats a cage?
What's yours/where did it come from?
Is the idea that you secure the cage and then put a tank in it?
Can you buy cages?

I have a cage that used to have 2x 250ltr tanks in it,i measured the tank frame ie width + legnth from inside the bars and gave him the dimensions.I then told him where i wanted everything to be on the tank and by that i mean water gauge filling cap and outlets, when i got it it fitted perfectly and i`m now completley leak free and nearly 90 liters better off due to the new baffles.

Ive got a flat 650l, are cages available for this, or is there no real benefit?

No they do side mounts that are secured with ratchet straps, this guy would do you a 650 that wouldn`t need strapping as he would build it around your wheel arches so it wouldn`t move. The steel mounts that you can buy for your tank still have to be secured to the chassis.

I had a tank made by him, designed by me, to fit round the handles of a lawnmower I carry in my van most of the time.

It was spot on and fits perfectly,so I would reccomend them, not cheap though, but there was no way the mower would fit without buying a bigger van.
