Just started doin very old Church, not cleaned for years, inside and out.
It's Got stained glass, small leaded diagonal sections, some of it turns out to be perspex not glass with plastic leaded effect. Absolute nightmare sodded up all my cloths, cobwebs everywhere, cant use squeeges anywhere.
Nearly finished the insides, will do outside tomorrow and wanted some advice as to whether or not I should use WFP, which I really am tempted to do. Some panes are slightly cracked, and I wouldnt say the windows are totally waterproof , some small holes between glass and leaded frames. I cant bear the thought of doin this trad. Can WFP cause any damage to delicate or stained glass?
Never done a Church before, any one got any experience, wisdom, suggestions.?
Cheers John.

John
I clean church windows. The trick is to WFP the outside (very little pressure on the glass) and whatever water goes in the holes and cracks, you can clean with your cloths inside.

Johns...........You're doing what as a freebie????????? Not the church, surely...........Have ya nay heard how much cash thay got flying around? I'm quoting on a church tomorow. A modern one. £100 for an hours work and i know i'll get it cos they really aint short of a bob or two. I'm just soo hoping God aint a member of CIU :)

Well its a sort of freebie, in lieu of flowers being provided at my wedding there next month.
They knew I was a W/C and asked if I would do it. Well its my own fault for tryin to canvass some domestic work whilst avin my Banns read. What could I say ?
I wouldn't have canvassed this kind of job. Im doin it whilst its raining so im cool with it, and to be fair it makes a change from pubs, shops and houses.

Ok to WFP the stained glass. It won't discolour the glass, even if you use hot water. I clean one church annually and one monthly, no problems with discolouring the glass. If they're dreaded leaded's they'll probably leak like a sieve so it's best to do outsides before doing insides :)

Thanks people for your comments. Just been there wiv the vicar who was well chuffed with the job inside.
Told me they were last done 22 years ago, so no wonder I used so many scrims/micro's.
Will WFP gently tomorrow.
Thanks guys.
