Its grey, bit windy and only a little rain so i would go out in it but its the 1st time ive had bad weather
with a days work to do, do you guys work in it, not interested if you dont work in it because you dont
want to get wet but for custy reasons, i want to go out in it but not sure on response, was thinking of
getting a letter written out that i could put through custys doors on a day like this explaining that the
rain wont affect the clean and if they wherent happy with result i would return to sort any problems, I
know someone on here with a rain guarentee think its jeff, have any of you got any letters similar or if
not how about someone being nice enough to do me one :-* :-* :-*

HI Chris
at the moment were I am ( Just out side tamworth ) Its dry so off to work if it starts to rain then NO :'(
But at the end of the day we all have mouths to feed ;)

What are your reasons for not carrying on if it rains,

I really wouldn't bother with a letter... I always think that if you make a fuss over something by trying to explain it in a letter then there is more risk of them making a fuss over it because you have brought it to their attention!
It's on/off showers here (Surrey) at the moment... I'm going out in about 15 mins... If the showers get too hard I'll just sit in the van until they pass.

People dont like getting wet is the only reason IMO if they are honest, Most customers do not have a problem with it if explained to them, I did not use a letter as Andy just said. I mention it when in normal cleaning, it also says it on the van right along the top.

It's going to be on/off heavy showers all week. I find it hard to keep motivated when it's like this. The best way is, as Andy says, just get out there and dodge the heavy ones. If it's commercial I can generally just keep going as nobody really notices.
Each house I have to judge when I get there, if I can't decide then I leave it up to the owner - if they're in. I don't make too big a deal out of it. Try to be a bit flexible, not hard nosed.
It's worked well enough for the last 21 years.
-
i work in the rain and only had 1 complaint but after the first time of doing the house where i got the complaint ive never had anymore complaints . i didnt give out any letters i just said i would clean in the rain and if any problems i would re do the windows never had 1 call me back .
-
If I need to work in light rain then I will. I take shelter during heavy showers as it's not pleasant working when you're soaked through.
As far as my custies are concerned most arn't bothered too much unless I turn up several times on the trot in the rain. Then they might say something. If they do then I reasure them that if they are really dirty following the rain then I'll re-do them or do them free of charge next time if I'm unable to re-do them.
Most of my custies are genuine people and don't try and take me for a ride. In fact I don't think I've ever had to re-do one in connection with rain problems.

rained at 8,fined up at 9 did an hour just stopped raining again, back out when it fines up,customers dont like it,and i hate working in the rain so dont do it,customers dont mind you being behind when weather like this and we earn enough to be able to miss because of the weather
trad cleaning in the rain is a lot different than wfp in the rain
-
Its pouring hard here and im not working.
I will work in showers but not heavy rain on domestics.
I did try it on domestics a few times in heavy rain but my customers are just not happy about it and neither am i.
Tomorrow i will be working whatever as its a large commercial and they get done whatever weather.
-
Slightly different but same topic!
i went to a supermarket for shopping over the weekend and we have the people that clean your car why you shop for a £5 or so..
but it was spitting with rain or light drizzle and they were all cleaning cars, now knowing it was raining they were willing to pay for there cars to be washed then drive them home which as we know means they will get wet and dry dirty.
so i suppose they would allow you to clean the windows in the rain as well ?
-
its not rained at all in my part of grim Northern England.
-
just go for it if the custies moans say you,ll do them again if there not spotless , wfp is fine in the rain unless its torrential , i got soaked this morning but i,m going back out soon regards alan
-
Well ive given up for today, just done banking, collected meds from chemist, posted items id sold on ebay, paid bills so now free for rest of week just to get work done.
Chris

Why dont you do the commercial today, if you can do it whatever the weather, and domestic tomorrow?

I went out in the end for just over an hour and picked up a new job ;D
-
hi chris.
I always clean wfp in the rain, not had any probs yet but would go back to do again if there was a problem. I always write out a ticket for each job before i go out as its almost impossible to do it when you are soaking wet,

I did a full day. A couple of comments but nothing problematic. What I've found is that although there is always a possibility of someone cancelling due to me cleaning in the rain (and it does happen very occasionally), overall it is far more financially sound to carry on cleaning and take my chances. I used to be scared of them telling me off. For Pete's sake. I'm 51 years old LOL.

Can't got it booked in tomorrow as its going to take 3 of us 10 hours to clean and tomorrow is the only time we could all get together.
And its a 2 hour drive each way to get there.

I worked 9:45am til 5pm today (with an hours lunch) and managed a good day... I just sat in the van when the rain got a bit heavy.
It's supposed to be a little bit better tomorrow... But then heavy rain all day on Wednesday :(

No idea re modding. Not been contacted by anyone. Wouldn't have time to give it my fullest attention so it would only be a bit part anyway.

Last time I looked His name (t knight) was still there. I think they've talked him round. It's a bit of a closed shop, it's supposed to be a horrible job, but they are loath to let anyone else do it.The forums greatest days are behind it anyway.

Heavy rain in Dartmouth all day today, worked all day as well, bills to pay so I worked. Rain, showers forecast for 3 more days this week and I don't plan on having a holiday this week so I'll be working in the rain as I don't want to be skint this week. Plan on going out and having a good week-end so need the dosh :)
-
heavy rain all day thunderstorm, very wet, had the day off, working on my motorbike :-) If it wasnt thundering id probably have worked.
-
just carry on in drizzle you d never work if you didnt the amount of rain were having. Just shelter from the downpours. If you dont really need the cash stay at home ;D
-
Looks like another wet day.
Just hunting my waterproofs out and prepare to get wet.
Empty house's today so get no complaints

I am wearing shorts to work today, just have to thinking I am going swimming.
-
Underwater window cleaner! ;D
-
I couldn't be any wetter if I went fully clothed swimming this morning ;D
Quick change, and off I go this avo.
Not window cleaning, doing gutters though. I really don't think you can do a decent job in heavy rain.

I was working in both Surrey and Sussex today. Got wetter as the day went on. Did reasonably OK but hardly a spectacular effort on my part. Finished about 2.30 as I was peed off with being wet. I didn't get any complaints. I did get one mild expression of surprise but that's all.

I watched a programme on weather statistics and apparently there is 165 days of rain, per year in Great Britain.
Thats a lot of days of not working for those that are worried about getting wet!!!!!!!
Rob ;D
-
I will add - (for the smarty pants) that it did not say that it rained everywhere on the 165 days.

Good point because the far west coasts/mountains do seem to get rather more than the east.
