my daughter works for a big hotel chain and she is pregnant , the midwife says she needs risk assesment , her employer says they dont have time to do , have any of you any experiece?

They have a legal obligation to carry out risk assessments on pregnant employees. I run a Care agency and as soon as someone produces confimation from their GP the employer must carry out a risk assessment. This information should be in the employee handbook and the company manual. It would be a very foolish employer who failed to stick to the correct procedures.
Maybe your daughter has just spoken to her immediate supervisor and needs to speak to the next level of management in her work
If they prove unhelpful contact ACCAS.

I'm just leaving to cover for a pregnant employee as we are short staffed.

Employers are required under The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, Regulation 16 to carry out Risk assessment in respect of new or expectant mothers
