LWC, if your going to take out the ply lining, DO NOT take out the ply on the panels, this protects it from denting inside, Luke

Yeah looks nice that, is that a new Scudo? What are you using for your poles? Also i thought the systems should be fitted somewhere in the middle of the van, or is it just as long as all the weight is not all over the rear wheels?

Hanging the reel is no problem, and it can be used from either side which makes domestics real easy from kerb side. Its easier to reel in as you can stand up, not bend down over the reel like on the rear.  I had a frame made which is bolted to the ceiling. In fact I bought the van and had the system fitted by Varitech. I think they did a good job, its a joy to work from.

The system is set well back to give me more space for my carpet cleaning gear etc up front. The fitted system is a 500ltr DI only. Its well with in axel limits and as the van has intelligent rear suspension the ride is always level as the tank empties.

The van is ply lined and I drilled 2 large holes on each side and fitted two extending shower poles, which I covered with pipe lagging and tape. Is nice as you can rest  many poles on it.

The Van is a Citroen Dispatch LWB 2.0 diesel.

Hope I covered everything  ;D

Thanks for that Kevin, looks really neat.
Im looking at having a rack inside of some sort for holding a ladder and my poles. Im having a system fitted, and would like to have it further back as to gain some more space behind the bulkhead to fit a frame for carrying sealed units.
So your system starts just before the rear wheels?

Don't post on here tennent, start a new thread. It'll be a show stopper. Ionics- tenent- and a new van!!

I am very much looking forward to your report. Please be as smug and arrogant as you like and don't spare any detail. This forum is a about wc, and the van and set you are getting is just about at the top of the tree.

Can't afford a digital camera? Their jaws will be on the floor and their eyes will be green. No one will admitt that they care or are interested but the views will be through the roof.

On a serious note I can give you some advice on the 'hot', if you want it.

My that's quite a "tan" you've got on your nose. ;D

Why should anyone be envious?
It's just another window cleaning system.

He won't be able to clean windows any better than before, or anyone else.
I hope he's happy with it, and it serves him well, but there's no reason for anyone to be jealous.

It probably cost a fortune, just to do the job I do for under £900. ???

oh dear it looks like the claws are out already lol

I have a camera on me phone thats pretty good, i'll take some tomorrow when I pick the thing up if I can work out how to get them on the PC.

I aint being smug or arrogant, as the squeaker says, it is just a van and system, though it is more pro looking that what I currently have.  Its not something I've bought on a whim, and I have thought about it carefully and just like any system there will be good points and bad points.

But one thing though, I reckon it will make a difference using hot water when the winter months roll around.  No idea if it will clean better, I always manage to get a perfect result just using cold, but I think it will be more pleasant to use.

Cheers guys!

Bod, Yes the ports are outside, so I can lock the van up entirely while working.  CVdewsbury you can have any van new or secondhand as long as the payload weight is enough and it is structurally ok.  To me having the new van is as exciting for me as the system itself.  I decided to push the boat out and get metallic paint and air-con etc, I'm looking forward to using it! (not had a chance so far!)

I dont operate a two man team,  it is just me on my own, but I suppose you could have a team of two from a van like this without much bother.  600 litres is plenty for two people IMO even on commercial work.

The negatives I have found so far... the salt-backwash procedure seems a bit fiddly, I never did that at all with my old RO, but I suppose if you follow the instructions it should be ok.  I dont fully understand it yet.  Other than that I'll have to wait till I actualy use it to see how it compares.

Looks great, but how does it work?

You lock it up outside your house with a hose connected to a port and it stops automaticaly when full?
You connect it to a supply whilst working?

Do you still have independent water production at home and will you still use it?

I take it the heater draws diesel from the main tank?

They changed the tax rules didn't they, so you can claim all of it this year if you want to. That'll knock the bill down a bit.

The salt backwash is for the Water softener I believe. You can fill a DI container with water softener resin but after x amount of water has passed through it, the water softener needs to be backwashed because of the build up of brine. Automatic water softeners automatically regenerate the resin.

Smart system. Welcome to the world of hot WFP. You'll love filthy new cleans with it :)

better than porn lol

NWH has the figures about right.  Well, anyone can see how much I paid just by looking in the catalogue I guess, so I dont mind telling.  It goes like this, the system i got is 600 litre pro-6 thermopure which costs about £9,300 depending on exactly how you have it configured plus a bit extra for fitting, can't remember off hand but about £550.  The van was (if i remember) about £13,600 making the total package cost just under £24k.

On 5 year finance this works out to be somethin like £580 a month.  Now something to consider is that you have to add VAT on to that monthly fig, but I am already in the process for registering for vat so that wont be a problem for me, but if your considerin something like this you need to take that into account.

Now compared to the money that can be earned from window cleaning, I do not think this is a big amount BUT i have a word of caution.  I am in this for the long haul, and i am already established and building up more and more commercial work, so I have justified some luxuries like hot water and a new metallic van and air con etc.  IF YOUR A NEWBIE DONT DO THIS!  Start with something more basic like cold water and a 2 yr old vehicle until you are nicely established.  When you have the work then you can justify the added nice things like hot water.

so there you go!

Even though I personally am a bit "anti-ionics", I have to admit it looks great! I am (slightly!) jealous!

Is the heat adjustable on that system?

Sorry discount missed your questions, yes you have it right, you park it up outside your house or in the garage or whatever connected to water supply and it fills up overnight and automatically switches the water off when its full.  You dont have to connect it to a supply while working, but i suppose you could and it would fill up a little bit while your doing work.  You could do this for commercial work if a tap was available and its gonna be in the same spot for a few hours.

You can have the option of either a seperate diesel tank for the system, or it can draw from the main fuel tank.  I went for it taking diesel from the main tank because I didnt want to have to fanny around filling two seperate tanks.

I dunno about those tax rules, if thats true it will be very welcome!
Title: Re: proffesionally installed system pics
Post by: Wayne Thomas on July 10, 2008, 11:30:23 pm
If you use a separate diesel tank for heating water you can use red diesel at half the price. Minimum sale of 200 litre drums or a bundi tank (double skinned) (approx £700) so it can be filled up by a fuel supply lorry straight to your tank at your premises. Worth considering since the cost of fuel is ever increasing. :) However the bundi tank has to be installed on a solid flat surface that meets a certain requirement which the fuel companies insist on because of waste contamination.
Total outlay for bundy tank would be recouped within 12 months by the saving made on the cheaper diesel. :)

Tennet,

That's exactly the same system we got off ebay a couple of month ago, same van and everything.

We paid £10,500 for it as a repossession.  Took me a month to get it on the road as it wasn't taxed and I had to send off to DVLA for a new V5 document.

All up and running now and I must say from our short time with it, it is a phenomenal system.
