just reading a post further down about fellow scrimmers going 60 foot high with Brodex poles, thats a serious height to be working at.... so a poll to see how high the rest of us have been,I,ve been 30 foot high (Amsterdam 87 ;))
-
63ft
-
It's nothing to boast about with a pole anyway, it's safe and easy.
You should ask who's actually worked the highest (off a ladder)
-
I once cleaned some second floor windows from a ladder at over 3500 feet :o(above sea level) in Austria, does this count? ??? ???

have been up a triple 24 ladder.Beast of a ladder, especially on top of a maestro van (thats how long ago) it hung over the front and back by a mile and made cornering a bit dodgy.
I was much youngerer & much much stupider.
I was alright going up, but on the way down I had a bit of moment when I didn't know what foot to move first, so I moved neither of them for about 5 mins.

Yeah, scary isn't it?
Funny looking back though. ;D

That post made me think. Ive done some stupid things in my time, not so much the height but more the stupid uninformed individual kind of thing.
Getting on one of my custys roofs to clean the valley between to adjoining rooves and not being able to get the roof ladder off by myself. At one time I was thinking of throwing it off from the apex of the roof; then the custy turned up, with me stuck on the roof with a ladder in my posession not knowing what to do with it 30 feet above ground level; and she climbed up the ladder that was on the ground and was able to help me lower the roof ladder. Needless to say the ladder on the ground wasnt footed, tied, fixed or anything and with no more than 5" protruding above the gutter line to hold onto when moving from the ladder to the roof and from the roof to the ladder.

there need to be some more options as they are not high enough for some pole users

Hi, 95 feet in cherry picker and then using 12 foot pole
-
20 story cradle, feet? fook knows!
-
Tradding now.
I was once on the third storey of a big manor house doing the insides of a really tall window on the 2nd rung of my step ladder. impressed?
Never had to clean over 30 ft with my superlite and I dont really want to either.
-
I have been up to about 65 feet a few months ago in a cherry picker on a builders clean.
My legs were shaking the whole time.
-
My Father ( use the term loosely ) put me in a simonhoist , and waved me about for 20 minuites ! I was 12 , and I am waiting to choose his nursing home now ! :P
-
around 40' it involves climbing out of an attic window onto a parapet kinda thing.
-
Around 30,000ft + :o
The window steamed up when i stuck my nose on it to look out then i wiped it (the window).
-
I got asked to clean the windows on the top floor of the empire state building, my 45ft carbon wouldn't reach so I had to get the old ladders back out.
took me about 2 hrs to do the windows and another 4 days to get up and down the ladder.
young'un footed it for me ;)
-
....and I left a microfibre up there ::)

When we first started we got asked to clean some gutters on a property, it was a 3 storey Townhouse with very little access at the rear and not enough room for a cherry-picker.
I hired in a set of ladders from Lord hire, they were the rope pull ones and went to 15m (48ft), took three of us to get them up and we had to have them fully extended to reach the gutters
Believe me that is some height for a set of ladders and when you're at the top trying to get pigeon poop out of the gutters it's quite a*se twitching.
We charged them £250 for the job and afterwards I thought we had done it too cheaply, I wouldn't do it again.

What if you were offered £1000 ? 8)

Ok, when do I start ;D
But what I meant was they whinged about the £250 and I don't think they would have paid anymore, I wouldn't do it for that price again, those rope pull ladders are a sod to get extended and a ton weight.

You are right :o , I have used these a long time ago and gave myself a hernia :o

I know a Window Cleaner personally who has gone 120ft......yes 120ft with a wfp, Luke
-
been 45m in a cherry picker.
There is a 60m, and the operator told me that when its fully up, the cage stays still but if you look at the boom, it is physically swaying from side to side. not my cuppa tea!
-
i often used to use triple 22ft ladders and these extended to 60ft , when we bought them we always used to remove the rope and pulleys as these where just an hassle , i often used to carry them fully extended from window to window and i mean carry them not bounce them along the wall like most did i knew a few other lads who could do it to but not many when you watch it being done it can look a bit scary but you always tilted ladder slightly so if you lost control youn could let it fall against the wall again.
they weighed about 150 pound and we never moaned now give lads a pole weighing more than about 4kg and you would think i had poop in their shoes the moaning they do.

ive done about 20 floors in a chair and cradle
-
I once took 24 tabs of lsd in one go! Maaad! That was high enough thanks. That was over 35 years ago, I'm glad I lived to tell the tale.
