Title: You Superlight Users
Post by: ftp on July 01, 2008, 07:18:57 pm
What's the maximum length you raise from horizontal? I have just recieved my extensions (thanks Alex and team) so now have a forty five foot pole i think. I put everything together and hoisted it up (had to because i only live in a normal house) from the ground but wondrered if it was a wise thing to do due to the extra stresses involved?

If high work i`ll raise with 5 sections max and then add sections once upright.

I can lift it up at 45ft (8 sections), but it is slightly hard work. I find that generally I lift it from the ground at no more than 40ft (7 sections) maximum as it is less strain on me and the pole! Any other extension sections I need, I then add with it against a building.

You should make a lightweight wheel to fit the g-fit Alex, so you can push the pole up the wall easily without scratching the aluminium.  :)

Why would the ali scratch....?
Lift the pole up the wall then take a couple of steps back thereby increaseing the angle and add the next section.
Hold the pole away from the wall and take a couple of steps forward to raise it up the wall.

I usually lift my SL2 with about 4 or 5 sections connected then just add more as needed to the bottom.

just use this brush, adding sections walking up the wall is much easier

they are just light weight foam rollers, so light as a feather, am sure it was jeff brimble who design this idea  8)

Nope not guilty  ::)
Dont raise raise from horizontal, it increases the weight by a factor of 4 so a 1Lb brush (heavy) becomes a 4Lb brush (extremely very heavy)
