How far does back to black go in restoreing tar mac?Is it just a colour restorer or is it bitumen based to fill little rough patches.Looked at mega path but told customer i`d get back to him as reckon it might need a layer of tar-mac,theres lots of loose stone on it,i`m in the middle of cleaning his back patio now.dan

Really just restores the color and thats all. Generally the rougher the surface the more back to black youll use and the more time consuming.
It can be a bit of a nightmare and i only do them when theres not much else on. In fact I'd one to do this morning and phoned the customer up and cancelled, not good practice, but i'm hungover and couldnt face it.

hey davy p, why is back to black a nightmare? i thought if the drive was clean and not worn it would be easy to do?? :o

Yeah a smooth clean driveway can be pretty straight forward, guess im unlucky as mine are rarely like that. The time i invest in sealing on the rare occasions i do it, i can't help feel would be better spent on several straight forward paving cleans.
Also with the unpredictable weather, or throw in the odd rough surface and work can build up, especially when applying 2 or in some bad cases 3 coats.
Personally I tend to avoid paving sealing or tarmac sealing as I find it a bit of a hassle and not very enjoyable, and to be honest i find it hard to get motivated at the best of times, hence, i try to avoid nightmare(in my opinion) jobs.

do smooth tarmac surfaces need two coats of tarmac restore?
-
Have yet to do one that has'nt, but then maybe that's just me.....
-
anyone else have same prob as davep where you need two coats of restore? i was told only 12 coat would be ok??
-
yep i put two coats of back to black on a driveway.
-
is 1 coat not enough then? do you have to go back when first coat is dry to give second coat? after 24 hours? i thought one coat would be enough as long as you work it in well.

You need to see how it drys , definately 2 coats, sometimes a light 3 coat if the drives really bad. Thats why i said it can be a nightmare, especially with the weather as it is......Just charge plenty, if they're put off don't worry, if they accept it then at least the pain is worth it....
