I am in the federation of small businesses.  I haven't been an active member though.  It does cover the accountancy fees if investigated by the IR.  That is worth the membership fee alone just in case they ever want to take a look.

For the FSB my last renewal was £100 for the year.  The first year was a bit more though (about £120 I think).  They charge the extra on the first year as a "set-up fee".

FSB is total value for money.

Any of the so called dedicated window cleaning organisations are a total waste of money when you base overall what you pay in and what you get out.

The back up when you have a legal question either about customers or staff is sorted within a couple of hours, because they get a properly qualified solicitor within that field to call you.
That alone is worth the £100 never mind if you should get a tax investigation where they send someone out to ensure the investigation is done quickly without stopping your business from operating. Thankfully I have never had to use that but it's good to know it's there if needed.
Does the Fed or anyone else provide that  ;)

i thought it was about secret handshakes and winks of which most of us will never be clever enough to comprehend.
But i would like to take a stab at understanding. Is this info too exclusive to be bandied about on a forum?
c'mon dave, stop pretending you don't know. You are not a silly man. What are you and ww doing that can't be said in public?  ;D
