Title: Cleaning Windows With a High Tds
Post by: Bazzy1999 on June 23, 2008, 09:51:25 pm

Went out today with my not so pure water at 19tds, cleaned my usual custys hoping they don’t spot to much but when I went back to the first few I done in the day (knowing there out at work) I was gob smacked to see no spots at all  ;D so when I got home I done my own windows and they dried spotless to.
So my question is do you really need to get your water down to 000tds.
Before you ask yes I have 3 tds meters and they all read the same.
I hope tomorrow goes ok to as its now gone up to 21tds.

19ppm isn't just 19ppm - depending on the makeup of that 19ppm you could have perfect windows or awfully spotty ones.  Our water when it goes over 002ppm is terrible, whatever is making up that 002ppm is showing up really quickly.

so if your water is 019ppm then whatever is in that water doesn't show up so readily.

lucky git!!

its what makes up that 19ppm. When buying some resin the guy told me that anything up to15 and no one would notice and he's right

The main component in our water is calcium/lime which the RO gets rid of. If we let ours go higher than about 8ppm we would not be confident, because of the calcium levels.

I've cleaned with TDS @ 023 all was ok but for peace of mind i'm happy with 000, at the moment i'm using a booster pump filling the tank @ 65/70  psi water going in @ 280 ppm once through the RO it's coming out @ 002 ppm but will still be using the DI resin for the final stage ;D

Bazz I have njot read every post as a lot or just fillers, what size di you have what ro what tds out of tap.

I have 470+ out of tap 20 (ish out of ro) 4040 ro twin di's inline 2/3 months more sometimes 650L a day 5 days a week

booster takes it down to 9 but broke (fosters  :'( )

Ian

p.s I am not happy with over 000 for said reasons  ;)

Ian its a 4040ro and only a single 11L di canister and i get through around 400L a day 4/5 days a week.
I have got a new membrane on order and pre-filters (Alex where are they) and half a bag of new resin left..
I know what your saying about it has to be 000tds but ive got no choice cleaning with high tds at the moment...

Ian how long should a 4040ro membrane last?
Ive had mine since Jan 2007, i thought it would last longer than that and i flush it before every fill..
