Title: Close call today! Numpty alert!
Post by: AuRavelling79 on June 23, 2008, 05:27:54 pm
Running around like a loon err, working briskly, I'm at one of my commercials early this am and one of the upstairs upvc tilt and turn windows is open.

I go in, knock on the office door and ask the occupant (boss of site) if I may close his window to clean it. Do so, go downstairs and start cleaning.

Half way through doing the opener it swings in and two pencil jets spray into the office for about two seconds before I gather my wits and turn off the flow.

Boss comes and shuts the window properly and I run upstairs with a towel to "mop up".

"Sorry, sorry, sorry" etc - you would not beleive how much water went in - his desk, window cill and all paperwork and him and his computer   :o are all sprayed.

Fortunately all was taken light-heartedly and no lasting damage done - but I panicked for a mo ... and was especially worried about the laptop which turned out to be ok.

Memo to self - when shutting windows, turn the handle to "shut" not "turn"!

Phew!

I did exactly the same thing on my own place today after work.  My wife was using the laptop on the dining room table.  She didn't need the cold shower.  I was amazed how much water went in in a few seconds.

Simon.

People seem to leave a lot of things lying around in their gardens at this time of year and I keep forgetting to check before I start.

So far this spring/summer I've succeeded in filling two pairs of shoes and soaking one Kleeneeze catalogue left on someone's doorstep. So far it's been taken in good spirits. At least to my face anyway.
