Hi
it depends what equipment you are going to put in the van. The side door is a lot lower than the back one. If you will be using trollies etc the side door is better for ramps for the trollies. However if you dont want the trolley way then right up to the bulkhead would be wise.

This is only a guess, but I'd say somewhere pretty much mid way between the front and rear wheels.
Have you ever noticed that when artics are carrying a single half-size (20') container on a 40' trailer, it's always located in the middle of the trailer? There's probably a sound reason for that.

as above that is the correct way to fit regards alan

It should be offset from the middle of the van with a biased towards the back axle. Not directly in the middle of the van. The rear axle is designed to carry the bulk of the weight. So the ideal place is just in front of the back axle but not quite in the middle of the van. You can see when its about right as all 4 wheel arches will drop by about the same amount of distance. Then when you have it all set up, go find a public weigh bridge or a vosa weigh bridge and get yourself weighed for peace of mind. If you load all wrong you could void your insurance or face a nasty fine :'(
