Title: is a hot washer really better than cold
Post by: drive surgeon on June 18, 2008, 08:12:58 pm
just wondering the results of hot water vs cold water,   do i really need hot water for domestic drives and small commercial work?   just wondering what the benefits are and anyone got any good names of machines?  does merril fox sell them?

the advantage of hot water is it will move chewing gum and a lot of oil based stains that cold water wont touch without the use of chemicals, for most domestic work you woudnt notice much of a difference although when a customer sees all the steam coming out of sides of the flat surface cleaner they always remark on it and think it is doing a better job.
the downsides of hot water is the machines are a lot more expensive to buy and to run and there is a lot more that can go wrong with them as for makes of machine there is a lot to choose from but we use a lavorwash thermic 17 and find it brilliant.

i just dont know whether its worth me buying a hot box or hot washer for my work doing drives and patios and some commercial work,  do you use hot water thru a turbo nozzle to remove chewing gum? or do you use a special nozzle? ???

we looked into running a hotbox but could only source them to run upto 15 litres a minute which on some jobs we find not enough, you also need another generator to run the hot box so again this can be an hassle i think it all boils down to how much work you do and i wouldnt buy a hotwash unless you really need one.

Drive surgon bought mine second hand but i think they are about £900 new very east to use quick release fitted on inlet and outlet ,will need small gen to power elec side of things but it only takes about 200 watts takes 3000 psi 15lts min and150c but not on full pressure as water passes through burner to quick.
sometimes use mine to give hot water supply when cleaning carpets .
