Ive been thinking of doing this on my domestic work for a while to cut out collecting
How do you go about it?
Do you include the stamps on the envelope?
How big is the envelope? (so it gets noticed)
I take it that you use a ink stamp kit save hand writing them out.(stupid question)
But more importantly do they work?
??? ??? ??? ???

I cant answer this compared to most as not got a big enough round, but staples do stamps and they make them there and then for you about £15 i paid for mine.

I use sae's and have for a while, i print out labels on my pc and affix second class stamps, they work for me very well, i don't go out collecting
-
i dont collect never really have done if i leave an envelope its hand written no stamp on it most like to pay direct over the internet never had a problem with that

I have a royalmail account and use a freepost address on preprinted envelopes, you only pay when the envelope comes back to you.

How much does that cost Alistair?

This is off the top of my head but im pretty sure your charged 21p when returned which is with a discount because I had them printed in Royalmails prefered layout and font which there computerised sorting machines can read, and im pretty sure the envelopes worked out at about 2p each but I did have 10,000 printed.

it works great would never do it any other way the only downside i can think of is you dont have as much contact with your customers which stops you gathering there friends and familys windows or to report a problem to you .
they usually prefer this collecting method as there not disturbed at tea time or in the middle of doing something ;D

Dont you have to pay a licence fee to the Royal Mail every year?

I changed all my customers over to SAE's and just told them that I would be putting an envelope through with a 'your window have been cleaned today' slip and they would need to put a stamp on it.
Got my stamp specially done with our logo from Lavins Printers at Uttoxeter - bit more professional!!!.
If your stuck on anything give me a call on my mobile - off the website contact page and pop over.

ive done this for years but only on custies that owe more than a tenner,i use 2nd class stamps and always write on the back of the envelope the address of the custie, its amazing how many don't put address on back of the cheque and that leaves you no idea where it came from..i have address labels from vista print it just adds a bit of professionalsm ;)

i use sae,s for all of my customers, ive never collected. i print my address on the envelopes on the computer and put a payment slip inside, also done on the computer, and supply the stamps, i also write the address on the back, works well for me.
if you work out how much time , at your normal hourly rate, it costs to collect plus your fuel costs it works out cheaper to do it this way. imo

That is a helluva area - is that on residential work

never put stamps on , don,t waste your money , just leave an envelope , i did put stamps on when i first started but when i stopped it made no difference regards alan

Ive been using s.a.e's for a couple years now and works well. sometimes if ime back in area nexy day i sometimes ask them to leave cheq under door mat and go round collecting them first thing next morning. Today however ive got 4 custy's who are happy to pay on-line so i might encourage that in the future if its successful. its whatever works best in the end. 8) Syd
