Title: Blzer or spitfire??
Post by: Luc on June 16, 2008, 07:56:37 pm
Im thinking of changing in my old spitfire 3.2 (its the red one and about 6 years old) for either the new version or a prochem blazer. Can anyone give me honest advice as what machine is better/or advantages or disadvantages. I have been well pleased with the spitfire but fancy a change.
Any help is much appreciated
thank you

Luc,

I have owned & run the HM Spitfire 3.2 & a PC Cub XL which is basically the same as a Blazer.  The Spitfire is a VERY reliable unit that is very easy to maintain & service.  The Blazer is a reliable unit but slightly more complicated for what it is and they are not as easy to maintain as the spitfire however, it does look better than the Spitfire.  If you can stretch your finances slightly further then id go for the Boxxer 318.  Although i have good service back up from both HM & PC i found HM better.

Richie.

Got to agree Luc the Boxxer 318 would be a better option with its 36 blower. Personally I think you'd be going backwards with a Blazer, its a nice looking piece of kit but the performance is not the same as what you already have.
If your going to the expence of changing your machine make it worth while and at least go for a bigger blower! ;)

If I can add my observations as a porty user.

A couple of years ago, I saw a new Prochem Blazer being demo'd and was very impressed with it's performance. But I felt that it was VERY NOISY.

Last year, I saw Dave Roelant's immaculate but well used Boxxer 421 in use and, apart from the impressive performance, was amazed at how quiet it's 21hp B&S unit was.  Would I be correct to presume that the 18hp B&S of the 318 would be equally quiet?

Safe and happy cleaning :)

I also fancy change the wife for one to a newer model and its probably reciprocal, but it would cost ;D

Was impressed with the cobalt

My blazer is noisy when I’m standing next to it or ten feet away! But when inside only hear the vac sucking, it dose brings attention not always positive  :o 8)

No I don't have a 318, I have a maxx470 & a Boxxer 427 and a Titan 875 on order.
But there are very good reports on the Boxxer 318.
