Title: Just starting advice needed
Post by: gordons on June 16, 2008, 07:19:24 pm
My mate introduced me to this game. I have decided to give it a go he gave me a try of some of his equipment to practice on my own house it was traditionmal quite enjoyed it, but then i tried using the ladders today to do the upstairs. I have never used ladders except changing a light bulb. LOL I have to admit it made me really nervous and worried is this just natural when first starting up and also i know they say 4 up 1 out for setting your ladders but really for first floor how far out from wall do you put ladders generally. When i was up those ladders today was wishing i could afford wfp but no chance till i get set up and know for sure i will stick it and have the customer base.

your local council should be able to provide free health and saftey training via local courses which should help  .
Try "business link" if you are just starting out as they can help with advise and maybe get you funding for wfp.

go wfp...lol

youll get used to it buddy, first time i went up my face was stuck to the glass, how i cleaned it i dont know, but  few goes and as said before youll be running up there! be careful though. one tip, if you think you cant reach that corner in the window, dont ever over stretch, think about what your doing, those few seconds it would have taken you to just come down and move your ladder could of saved you a tumble.

this is how you want your ladder pretty much

i used to put my ladders underneath the sill which can be a little awkward sometimes, but if you put it on their sill you may damage/mark it. go steady up and just hold the underneath of the sill with a polo grip claw, lol. and just remember be careful and dont over stretch, its simple. ladders arent dangerous...they are only if you make them i.e. over stretching, not putting them on level ground, the right angle.

if your that worried why not look at something like this, this ones called ladder stopper. there s another one that has been talked about on here but i cant remember where

good luck and just take your time, speed will come...i hardly go up ladders now probably about once a month and im like a wet lettice when i go up and ive been doing this 5 years! ;)

by the way i wouldnt reccomend this lol

When I first started out I had an old wodden ladder, i got 4 rungs off the floor and got stuck, first time I relized I had a phobia about ladders, it took me all day to get my hand top the first floor window, next day I did the same I went a got a new ladder, I had no choice I had to get over it, within a week I was up and down like a yo-yo.

Good luck you will get there if you want to.
