I also believe this would be a good idea. So the users can vote for the mod ( as long as the sites owner is happy with this of course ) I also think that the candidates should brifely explain what they can bring to the table, why they want to be a mod and what type of mod they will be.
Maybe we could also have some task like the Apprentice and each week somebody will get fired!!!!!lol

Can't see the point of this lads/lasses.... I would have thought that the Forum Admin team approach people they think would be suitable & see if they are interested....
If there was an election we could end up with someone popular, but not a good moderator......... a bit like electing politicians...... ;D

whats the big deal about being a moderator??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ::) ::) ::)

Who wants to be a mod, it's a thankless task that's over rated IMO. I wouldn't want to police you lot. ;D
-
I vote lwc.

Yeh!
Who gives a poo, eh!
It's a bit like todays society; no-one gives a toss about each other; or at least no self-indulgent Chav gives a moments thought about helping someone out.
Unless of course there's something in it for themselves.
Personally, I like this forum, I'm sure it costs Mike more than what he gains from it from advertising on it; I have never purchased from Express Cleaning, and I don't know anyone else who has; so getting paid to moderate is not on the cards.
And Kirky, I think this post says a lot about your mentality.
-
He is the only contender brave enough to name himself. Good for you LWC i'll vote for you too.
This place is like a zoo sometimes, sort some of these people out.
The future of the forum is new members because after a year or so we all run out of things to say and ask, while the newbies quest for knowledge and our differing responces to it is what keeps the site fresh.
The quality of new arrivals is dropping though because they read some of the flame type posts and aggresive posturing about fifteen pound poles and the decent people clear off.
Tosh steady on, I though you asked me not be a hitler. Who was the other by the way?
-
I hoped it was Phil, I wasn't around then but his posts recently are very long winded and pompous. So I dislike him (but that could be jealousy because he's an editor)?
I notice Matt etc always spoke highly of him so maybe i'm wrong on that
-
for all the pointless posts its got to be Mr Tumble.
-
Maybe we could sign up to some better terms and conditions when we join.
There could be different status levels, not done on the number of posts, with pro being the highest which could be taken away.
It 's been mentioned before about using real names, I don't use mine and don't agree with this because sometimes forum rows spill over into the real world and some peoples wives have had funny phone calls etc. But there should be some accountability.
Maybe there could be some sort of forum digest too. Let wce and sanity run it.
-
I had a go at tumble and he had a go back. I liked him better after that.
-
Here's the answer to it all..
I'm for the one on the left!

Oh and (the title of the thread is.... newmod idea)
What if any four members of good standing could lock a thread?
Not for sport or malicous reasons, but if a mod is not on and four people can agree a thread should be locked?
Dave had locked two tonight and I agree both times, but what if he wasn't here?
Even the potential for character attack is not on. Paul is sensitive anyway.

Funnily enough, I noticed that you went quiet with me thereafter, proving that you do have a sensitive side afterall. I then got on the track to respecting you. It might be a journey worth undertaking, who knows?
:P

You can lock your own thread anytime already, if you feel responsible enough.

Tosh will know more about this than me , but when I was a new recruit in the army ( Yes it was the juniors , and I only lasted 3 months ) but They had a thing called milling ( 2 guys in a ring . . . mono et mono ) If you had a problem with somone , you slugged it out in a ring ! Was scary but you gained each others respect ;D I am not advocating violence here , just saying if you have a problem with somone try and get it sorted , dont let if fester ! :D

im up for a scrap

I'd vote Tony, Macmac.
He would ban all Purolite users ;D ;D ;D
-
I've got a better idea!
Let anyone interested apply to Mike Boxall.
Let Mike Boxall decide who he wants to do it.
Go along with Mike's decision or hop it!
Sorted!
Did I mention I vote for The Shiner? ;D
