Title: Not Many CC at cleaning show?
Post by: Chris R on January 21, 2005, 05:13:14 pm

Just looked down the list of exhibitors for the cleaning show at the NEC.

Doesnt look like Ashbys or Alltec are going, plus others missing also?

Wonder Why?

The cost of stand will be the main factor for some

prices from £197 per square metre to £241 per square metre

Chris,

There must be exhibition overload for some , Carpex was recent , Woodman's day out follows shortly.

I'm seriously considering giving NEC a miss due to just being too busy.

Cheers,

Doug

Sorry to disagree with Doug.

I feel that we should all take the time to support and attend as many trade functions as we can. It's easy to schedule a day in the diary. You will meet up and be able to network with colleagues, maybe one or two commercial clients too. Be brought upto date on new technology in both the equipment and consumables sides of the industry. You'll be able to cement existing relationships with your suppliers and form new ones previously untapped. You may well pick up new work from all of this networking or source better products or terms.  Remember that as well as tradepeople, we are also  businessmen and women.

You may also enjoy yourself. Can you really afford not to go?

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Ken,

I've always found the real networking happens in the bar afterwards , and this was certainly the case at Carpex. This means I've now got 2 days plus Woodman's .

Am I really going to see much different from Carpex ? probably not , the Eclipse maybe , but I can see this at MK.

I do feel that once a year , with more informal gatherings is likely to be much more cost effective. However I do respect that others attend every show they can and enjoy them.
Down to personal choice I suppose.

I may be wrong but as yet I don't feel the same vibes coming through as I did for Carpex, maybe less than 5 months is just too soon.

Cheers,

Doug

Doug

I know exactly what you mean and where you're coming from.

Believe it or not, even though I was at Carpex for both days, I still didn't have enough time to do everything I'd planned. I probably learn more from the minor, less frequented stands than from the primary ones. A classic case was Branova at Carpex.

We have different views, which is healthy. That's part of what these BB's are about.

Safe and happy showtime :)

Perhaps Alltec etc are waiting for a last minute deal to fill the rest of the stands.

From memory Shaun, there have been such late entries at previous shows.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

You think you guys have it bad.  I've to travel from Belfast and often it will take two days for a one day event depending.

i think we should all support these shows, they are staged for our benifit, and as such they are for us!

But i also hear what is being said about time,it is the one commodity that we cant make up,
