Hi All

When to clean a customer for the first time today. I used to clean their old house and they moved to this new house and want me to continue cleaning for them.

The problem is that all the windows seem to have a film of oil on them. I cleaned them as usual which was useless, I then dipped the brush in some diluted GG4 which foamed up nicely and looks the part. However, it didn't get the oil off. What can I use? They are quire happy to pay if I need to get some special cleaning items, they just want the windows clean and know I generally do a good job so are happy to go with whatever I suggest. She was even tlking of steam cleaners today, i said I would go ask you guys before she did anything like that.

Lots of people on here have better answers than me but what I would have done?

Use a rough sided soaped up applicator on a trad pole to scrub windows, then wfp rinse and scrub.

If that didn't work I may have tried thinners on one window. If I had to go back with something degreaser spray maybe.

Oil flo is what you need.

maybe a gallon of it if all the windows are bad :o

Is oil flo OK to use on wooden windows? E-mailed a couple of suppliers but they couldn't be bothered to get back to me.

Oil flow or white spirit.

Use a jiff sponge or the like as long as it has an abrasive pad.

Had simillar today and it seems to have worked ok.

If you have the time work one window at a time so no residue stays on the frame to long.

Hope this helps but I am sure some of the, 'older sweats'  ;D, will have a simpler solution.

Anybody know where I can get oil flo from a brick and mortar shop, does the likes of b&q stock it?

You could also try using sugarsoap and hot water, you can get it in b&Q

Would the sugarsoap not scratch the glass?

Try the blue paint brush cleaner they sell in B+Q. Put it on, leave it for a while then wash off with water. Similar to sugarsoap but a bit stronger.

I cleaned about 250 window with it a few weeks back no scraches from what I saw, I used very hot water and worked a treat.

Ok, thanks guys. Will give Whitespirt, sugar soap and brush cleaner a go and see how I get on.
