Ok, once and for all I want to sort out the best pole out there.
Categories
1)Price,
2)durability,
3)ease of use,
Can you all tell me your opinion on best pole and what the make of the pole is and wheres the best place to buy them.
I tend to stay with the cheaper poles £90 for glass fibre 18 ft pole (6 months worth) but have seen similar pole even cheaper but is it as good and would it be worth going for more expensive poles, but £250+ is alot to spend on a pole.

You think that's a lot do you? Try over a grand for an 'ergolite' 35' from Ionics- and that's an old price!
I'd stick with a £100 g/f pole if I were you.

I know its not alot in some respects as they go up to £1500, the point is im trying to get a balance and find the best, is cheap better than expensive or other way round, just trying to find out what everyone else does.

It's just an idea, but I would have put "suitability for intended use" somewhere in the list. If you are going to be cleaning purely domestic, I would't imagine you needing anything longer than about a 24' pole. If you're going to be cleaning John Lennon airport, you'll need something rather longer.
This is one of the problems that many people have. They criticise racehorses for not being donkeys and vice versa.

to be honest if your looking for the best pole then shouldn't be considered. It would be like saying a ford fiesta is better than a merc just because its cheaper.
You need to look at ease of use relibilty suitability and durability.

cheers , what poles does everyone use then sizes and make and costs would be good, I just do residential props.

from our own selection of poles
17ft xtel gf - cheap, light, bit flimsy but fine to work with - lifespan 6months or so. (x4)
21ft unger (xtel in disguise) - same as above(x4)
30ft Brodex gf (old type ecolite) - very sturdy pole for gf - 3 years old and still in good nick, reasonably light, good handling characteristics (x1)
30ft Brodex Cobra Carbon - MMWWWAAAGGGHHHHAAAAHHH - very expensive but light, super rigid, fantastic pole.(x1)
45ft Universal carbon - rubbish, heavy, rubbish again.(x1)
Cobra Carbon is top of the shop but expensive - lasting supremely well (about a year old, used nearly every day) and still looks like new.

30FT Brodex Prolong Alluminium
Ive got a couple of 18ft glass fibres as spares as well as a 24ft. These are just old poles that I'm hanging on to just in case I need em.
I know 250 quid is a lot for an 18ft pole but I found I was wareing out a glass fibre 18ft in less than 9 months so an investment in a pole with a 30 month waranty seems good value to me.

You could get 16 Harris poles for that money!!! And I'm expecting to get a few years service from my Harris pole at the least !! :)

I have 2 Harris poles in my van, the main one that I use clampless is 5metres (16ft) high, the other which I use for town houses ect is 22.5ft high, it has a 6ft unger extension fitted into the end!! :)

i dont want to get you going again about these superb poles but are they rigid, light, and very fast to use? i din't read the previous threads?

Got a Harris for £13.00 last week.

Feels and looks quite strong.
Had it extended in the shop putting pressure on at full max to see if I thought it would cope.
(Got some funny looks)
Impressed so am going to give it a go.
Ok for simple jobs by the looks.
Will be looking at a slx soon or somthing similar.

Sounds similar to the ettores, is it telescopic?

Well I'm like most people I dont like to waste money. I'm really happy with my Prolong poles. In my opinion I dont llike the flex and bounce of glass fibre poles but each to their own. ;)

Well I'm like most people I dont like to waste money. I'm really happy with my Prolong poles. In my opinion I dont llike the flex and bounce of glass fibre poles but each to their own. ;)

I stand corrected! However it still looks to have way too much flex in it for me.
If I sound like I'm being funny I dont mean to be I just like my pole to be more ridgid than they look in the videos :o.

As you say, each to their own mate, but for £15 you have nothing to lose, give the Harris a go, you may be surprised!! And save yourself a fortune at the same time!! :)

we all can prattle on about whichis the best pole,brush etc
but a lot of it comes down to personal preference,need or cost.
i use a harris pole for most of my work it suits my needs its light
and i like the little bit of flex its got. i use a 30 ft unger pole for
any occasional higher work i have again it suits my needs.
if work increased at that level or higher i would invest in a sl2 or facelift
as heavily promoted by various people on here ;D

I have a slx. Best pole i've used by miles. However, its put a massive dent in my wallet so i'm going to buy a harris pole and use it for a few days and see how it goes. I'm open minded.
Whether it wears out quickly wont be an issue. It will be interesting to see the ease of use and the weight.

The best pole does depend what your going to use it for.
If it's just your self and you have the cash to spare then a slx would be a good choice.
But if you have people working for you then you'd be nuts to give them an slx, you'd want something almost indestructible like a tucker.
I like the xtel 17gf I think thats a good pole for the money with a nice closed length, not as good as the slx but cheaper. The harris looks good in the video and you can't beat it for value for money but whats the closed length, if it's 6ft then for average sized gus like me it's too long closed.
As regards these poles, you can get bad ones, you can get good ones and you can get near perfect ones like the slx. You make your choice and pay the money. But just because a pole is cheaper or more expensive it doesn't make it better. A really good pole will pay for itself eventually in the speed you can work at.

Where is this video of harris pole your all talking about i cant find it, I use the the orange excel 18ft pole with vikan brush, it seems similar to the xtel pole but they seem slightly more exspensive but if they last longer might be worth while.
so wheres best place to buy this Harris pole, never heard of it before.
I will check out theses sl2, facelift and slx as not to aware of these poles.
