Hi,
Aquired a fair few new calls as some of you may know....
they have all been cleaned trad forever and ever......and the frames or sills have never been done..
So now they are mine... and i am wfp ;)
But to them i am an Alien from outer space....
they are scared of my water, scared of my silly poles..... scared of the droplets on the windows when i leave...
scared of my hose near the flower bed.s...
and not one bit happy , that the frames and doors are now gleaming, (it took me bloody ages to get them up, thinking this will impress them)
but oh no ... i am expensive,... yet i dont simply do the glass!.....as the last guy did.
some people are never happy.... i drive away and see the results... they look great!
yet i am an alien on the street.
change..... is very hard for some people.
ever had this experience?
Gary.

GOING TO FLOG THEM TO A TRAD GUY LOL.
-
;) All the time ! ::)
They will soon warm to the idea! ;)
A tip... I always get the customer out to look at the finish, and ask how pleased they are!
I then say come out in a hour and look again, you will then realize why I am so expensive and why you can trust me to do a good job! ::) ::) ::)
That usually does it 8)

You Will always get some that do this, a lot of people do not like change even if it is in there benefit, I don't bother to explain to much any more, they take it or leave it. There are plenty of customers that like having a better job done focus on them, the others will come round in time

serious tho ::)
second clean came along.... and although the customer could not find fault .... she said she is not keen on the method i used and one or two of her freinds felt the same... ??? ??? ???
i said how do you mean >?
your frames are clean and the glass is sparkling? yes ?
yes she said but its just that they are left wet :o
and her friends feel the same....
so i said, well i wont do them in future, its very much your choice... bye!
oh no ..she said, lets just give it one more go and see how it goes....
my head hurts. ::)

i found this when going from trad. It did knock my confidence a little, but not too much.
I now always go back later in day to check the results and collect money on 1st cleans and that has pretty much put a halt to any sceptics now.
I felt people thought i was taking the pee asking for cash when the windows were still wet. But after looking at the dry results, i haven't had a single moan. Yet!! ;)

you do not want to be saying that to customers IMO at all.
I say this they are cleaned this way now for a few reasons: 1 we can clean you frames as well as glass at minimal costs to you (I charged for it when I changed over) 2 the windows will stay cleaner for longer so you benifit from this and 3 I do not want to risk falling from a ladder just to clean your windows because if I fall I cant ask you to pay me till I am better can I.
I am doing it this way because you benefit and I don't want the risk of falling anymore you know about the EU laws now I would rather embrace it than be pushed ;D

bet trad guys are loving this :o

have you blinded them with the science? I have found that the trick is not to say to much about the system and let the results do the talking. Stops all this crap (as long as you do a good job).

Agree with that 100% I told about 5 customers about the change over and they looked at me like I was mental (only did it to my loyal few customers I do alot of extras for) after I did that, I did not think twice no info, did the job spoke if they asked 90% did not back an eyelid, anyone reading this and is thinking of putting out a letter explaining save yourself a lot of hassle IMO

window washers...
the comments i gave were at the very end ... i had been through all the routine chat at the very beginning....
so i was at a loss at the end and felt like saying.... bye bye...
you should know me better than that Ian.

yep! Too much information just causes confusion. Let the results do the talking.

All they are interested in is the results. I remember countless times where i explained to the customer about the pure water etc only for them to turn round and say to me "The tap is over there mate". Domestic customers as a rule don't care how you do the job along as the results are good.
-
its true.... if the glass is clean thats the job done.... some people dont care about the frames......
but why dont people believe that the glass will dry!!!!!!
had a bad day today....i guess... its the first time i have come up against the die hards...
but i will win them over.

I had a new customer a while back who loved how nice her windows and frames looked but did'nt want me to come back because she just didn't like the method. It takes all sorts.
-
To be honest, I'm surprised at how uninterested most people are these days when I tell them how I'm going to clean their windows.
Most just want them cleaned, without a long boring technical explanation from some bloke who they just asked to clean their windows!
-

Not really. Trad guys also have their problems. I turned up yesterday at a long time customer....bunged my ladders up and she came running out saying: "No No...I don't like your method, I want you to use the water-on-a-stick way."

Yeah I found that too.
When I first went over to wfp, I was dying for a custie to ask how it all worked!
I wanted to get the tds meter out and compare their water etc, and show the difference. But no one asked, so when I tried to force an explanation onto them ;D they didn't seem that interested.
Now of course it's not so exciting ;) and I find it's best to just get on with it, and don't give them anything to worry about. If I say anything, it's just that I find it a bit safer than working from ladders all day, and that I can now reach those awkward windows!
Although one yesterday, I just mentioned that I'd be cleaning them differently, and she said 'Oh, no, I want all the ledges cleaned too'
I replied that this system is as good, and will do the sills. She just said "Well I don't know how!"
Just let me get on with them and you'll see!

It really is a case of actions speak louder than words with customers and wfp.

Yes I have. But I drive away laughing with the money in my pocket as I remove my fake pointed ears.

I never mention number 2 (not sure if it's true anyway). I don't want to say anything that could get them to try to reduce the frequency of cleans.
