Title: Bogus Caller
Post by: DASERVICES on June 05, 2008, 06:02:05 pm
Had a strange phone call today from a guy offering me a placement in the Emergency Services Magazine, his voice was very muffled.

To cut a long story short once I started mentioning other Police Officers who I know and no would not pay for it phone went dead.

The Police are unaware of a Emergency Service Magazine, there is a diary which they try a secure advertising space. I might be wrong but sounded very suspicious, the phone number is now being traced.

Just a word of warning there is a lot of this going on, don't part with your cash until you know you are dealing with a secure company.

Cheers

Doug

I tend to have fun with calls like this, fire questions at them and they normally hang up on me ;)

I had one off these calls last month, i just said not interested in any more advertising at the mo, the lady on the phone did not like this and then said I will be arrested in 2 days for speeding and then hung up!! Made me laugh tho.

Some people are very sad indeed!!

It turns out the email came from the same block i priced up!!!!!

I had three offering a paid entry in "999" directories within days of the YP coming out.  It can get on my nerves if I let it.  I registered all my numbers wiuth the TPS (telephone preference service) which is meant to stop these calls.  Trouble is, the system relies on callers having the scruples to use the list and weed out the "do not call" numbers.

These Idiots operate all the time. In a few weeks you will get a phone call saying that your ad is ready... Only you never booked one. They are just trying it on - con artists.

I have had the same call from pda media.co.uk, did a search on the internet, they have a website - but also came across a number of sites which contained irrate customers explaining there dealings with this company.

I had these guys on the phone last week, they said they could use my artwork from my website, I dont have a website; that was after initially quoting me £795.00 and then coming down to £99.00.

They told me the mag goes out to all the local schools, but didnt seem to know what to say when I said I dont generally get enquries to clean windows from school children.
