Title: Flushing Merlins
Post by: chrismroberts on June 05, 2008, 10:09:43 am
I've heard about flushing through the Merlin filters and read about it in the manual, but doesn't say how to do it anywhere...

...will it reduce my TDS? How do I do it?

First of all you need a Merlin Flush tank (seperate item) - have you got one?

No....

...but it sounds like I don't need to do it? TDS is creeping up, guess I'm just trying to put off changing the resin!  :-\

You can't flush them without the tank, the first port on the Merlin (which is blanked off) is for flushing the system through.

If used for WC you must use a pre filter with merlins,GAPS recommend a 20 inch pre filter for them.

why a pre filter?
i'm on same membranes for 2 1/2 years,no back flushing either plus hard water at 430 tds and alls ok.3 bags of resin a year.
