Just wondered where triggers are bought from? I'd like to see one.
I use a hip/holster with hoselock tap at the mo. which is fine whilst wearing back pack, but of late I just dump this on the ground and work along until I run out of hose, so the tap is usually about 10m away from me!
I know some tend to strap a valve to the bottom of the pole, but this means that there is a massive loop of hose to get snagged on everything, and generally annoy. Is this what others have found?
I like the idea of a trigger from a water saving POV, but is it a pain to have to hold on when doing awkward windows?

why dont you just put a tap on the end of your pole hose

I have, but as said is 10 meters away when working away from hose to pole hose connection where the tap is.

Ok cheers.
Anyone Else?

I have a trigger on one of my poles, on a standard window great, on an awkward window say where your leaning over a conservatory, becomes a pain in my opinion as its stuck in one position, so you constanly have to hold the pole in the same position.
My father in law managed to make a fitting so the trigger slipped up and down.
Also if you are doing a large surface area, its a pain to squeeze it all day,
i think a on/off valve on the pole is the best bet!

Cool; ta.
Do you find that a loop of hose is annoying though? IE catches more on stuff?

I use a trigger and use cable ties to fix it.
That way you can slide it up and down the pole when needed

In a cluttered area yes, it is annoying!
What we need is a hoseless pole!!?? ;D

I use one of those orange hozelock type on/off valves at end of hose. I wear a bungee cord around my waist, pull hose through this and connect it to the pole hose. Easy to turn on/off whilst holdding pole.
Works well, only downside is the orange valves sometimes leak or don't work properly, quality control issue?

Jason,
You must be a mind reader cos ive been thinking the very same of the past few days.
Surely it cant be that hard, every cheapo domestic car wash brush has a hoselock fitting at the end, but we spend ££££ on our poles and we have to put up with this irritating clear pole hose thats always splitting, wrapping around plant pots or snagging on rose bushes - and if it adds a little weight so what!
If somebody developed these or a 100m retractable hose reel (Ive searched the net and can only find 30m max) would make a lot of money!!!

I buy my triggers from ashby's. They're a bit expensive at £40.00 but they're all metal, and when I used to use the plastic ones I went through 4 or 5 on each pole cos they broke. If you leave the bracket loose by one screw turn they move up and down the pole but stay where you leave em

heres another way to stop and start the water flow

Why dont you just get a tap on the pole?
-
I use a tap valve (by pure freedom), fitted at the top of the base section, not at the bottom. I use one of them gardiner hose balls to stop the hose kinking on itself. The pole hose waves around in front of me which is useful as when the public are walking past they give me a wide berth when they see the pole hose flying around in front of me :)
When I use to have a tap on a holster worn around the waist I would end up with wet feet if the connections were wearing out and more annoyingly everyone would walk right in front of me on crowded pavements despite putting plenty of warning signs up to notify of trailing hoses.

thing is with triggers is that the shut off is instant, just let go and its off no turning taps off

But it's a long time holding the trigger in if you're working non stop on commercials

Is that a tucker pole?

Rubber band. ;)

Jouk, that's just too simple mate.

the pictures not mine dai, someone posted it here a while ago, i cant remember who
-
i use a gas valve just before the y piece of brush it stops it wearing out and is out of harms way
-
Here is the trigger a lot of us are using. :)
Just have to take the black hose hose, and put your pole hose in place there.

yes you do have to hold the trigger all the time your washing, but you put it where you hold the pole when your working, so oyur not doing anything out of the ordinary

does that mean the tap is up the pole on the brush when using it ?
-
The only way I can see this happening is a...
Remote controlled on/off switch/valve on the TOP of the POLE behind the brush!
It cant be anywhere else due to the hose constantly moving (but not at the top of the pole!) 8)
I know some have come up with the autobrush and the remote controlled on/off van/pump!
Autobrush I feel will ruin some plaster on some houses! (IMO)
The remote controlled van/pump on/off can sometimes be to far away to receive signal!
SO COME ON INVENT ONE!!!
I WANT ONE AND I WANT IT NOW!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Only way your going to do that is by using a remote controlled solenoid valve, which are A : Expensive B : Bulky, you wouldn't want that on the top of your pole and C : Need to be be 12v+ Powered.

NO no no, sorry Tim I don't like that answer! :P
This answer is going to ruin my day ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I don't really wanna keep kinking the hose, I think it might damage it.
Autobrush would be useless for me, as I'm always bashing the side of the brush into walls/window frames anyway, so would keep turning it off accidentally. ???
Tap on pole is ok, but again, loopy.
Why doesn't someone invent a jet that's poweful enough to squirt from the bottom of the pole to the window, like a very accurate water cannon.
I'm just waiting for someone to think I'm actually serious!!!!!!!!!1 ;D :D ;D :D ;D
I'll keep thinking..
