If he's gone that's a shame I'd just gotten to like him a little. He caught my interest because I like to analyse people and he had some unusual traits. I think he was quite deep, had some religous principles, and lost his temper fast. Anyone know what triggered him?

He'll have to come back because he's switching and still needs a lot of info and guidance.

I think this is what triggered it, there was no harm meant in any of the content.
www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=55738.0

It started when he asked is it not time this baby was put to bed.

I also liked the guy and hope he returns.

Seems odd to me that he tried to stop a topic that was relevant to window cleaning and turned another topic into something that wasn't connected to it.  Still, I can be pretty inconsistent too so I'll judge not lest I be judged.

I'm the worlds worst for offering unwanted and unsolicited advice (just found the bit where Jonah thought people should spend more time with family).
My guess would be Jonah had a very good personal reason (regret?) for saying it.

My advice generally is in two parts, systems and business.Systems is a van mount and hot with a reel fixed on the van electricaly driven. That's one thing.

The compulsion to put people right on business is almost irresitable though. For example Jeff, expand, expand , expand.....

Life's always easier when you've got money.

From what I read, jonah would have disagreed with your last point

I feel sure he would have said...
Eccl 7:12 Money is for a protection

He might even of quoted...
Lu 18:25

I don't want to offend anyone and i don't presume to talk for him

You will be missed... so come back (when your ready !)

Good luck to you Jeff!! Theres good money to be made in gutter clearance, the contract I recently won is unbelievable, and more money than I've ever made cleaning windows!!! 'Conservatory Restorations' yes I like that, I'd get some flyers made up with that on, it's got to be a winner!!! Trouble is if your not careful, you'll end up snowed under with work again!!! So price em high, and only take the cream!  ;)

If I price mine any higher I'll be able to retire completly  ;D

I don't want to start a new business, I just don't want to give my customers a lesser service than what I have been offering for over 10 years.

My daughter doesn't want the guttering or conservatory roof side of things, so she'll call in the A-Team to do it for her  ;D ;D

Just spoke to Jonah on the phone, he is touched that people are concerned for him.

He isnt upset with anyone at all and found it quite amusing, when i explained this post to him.

He is away due to technical issues and cant get back on this site until his request for a new account is accepted.

He deleted his account thinking he could change his user name that way and got in a pickle.

He will be back as soon as soon as he can register again

Here I go again with the unsolicited and unwanted. Not one person on here has took any of my advice, but I do like to help people where I spot something.
50k pa, even for a couple of years longer can make the next ten more comfortable. A van mount, especially for a female, would be a very shrewd move.

I suspect there are quality of life issues that are none of my biz and you don't want to go into, but I can only repeat that life is more bearable with money, and certain people need an interest or purpose in life away from home. (let's call this work for want of a better word).

Life maybe easier , also it can be a damned site harder too.

I near on kill myself trying to earn decent money and what for ? To be honest i really do not know.

I think i was a lot happier when i wasnt working ten years ago, i didnt have much money but my bills were paid, so no money worrys there, even managed to save a bob or two.

I am tempted to cash in and move to a Scottish island to live the easy life, grow some veg, fish all day, dig peat for fuel.

What else could a man possibly want , all the rest is immateriel , parden the pun.

I am getting to the stage where i ask myself every week, Why ? I dont enjoy it anymore, in fact i hate it.

Money or happiness ?    That is a tough question

Easy answer to that one and it's happiness every time i'm afraid. Stuff the money - you can't take it with you. Once you have a health scare it opens your eyes.

I understand where you are coming from but often you are working yourself into the ground for those around you, not necessarily yourself. The Scottish Isle sounds nice but would those around you who you would want to bring with you share your view.

You don't need business advice, and you are naturally competitive. Some people, nice people, people like Jeff maybe need a little bit more of the selfishness and compulsion that we have.

I don't like the work either, and maybe the one downfall of the business we're in is that it's hard to escape the tools.

I don't believe that our pursuit of money is shallow or superficial though. It's what you do, so you might as well be good at it.When it's raining or you have a day off do you feel giulty? I do, and that's the other side, and then you get those iconic buildings you've lusted after, or the M&S account, and that's the validation. I haven't got that far or anywhere near, but i'm sure that's as good as it gets.

On the advice front I have tried to tell Groundhog, squeaky ,WW, and both Jeffs, and they all thinking i'm barking.

Just read DJW, thats a cop out. If you had six months to live would you sell your assets and go to vegas to spend it all? Or would you carry on getting satisfaction from what you do?

This past week I've been riveted to the talent show, absolutley loved it. I though that Faryl would win, and I enjoyed asking everyone what they thought. As judges said it can change peoples lives so massively.....

Then someone said to me remember when Lena Zavarone won it? (diferent name same thing).........

Be carefull what you wish for.

Discount, no copout at all - thats my honest opinion i'm very different from you in that i like my job and absolutely detest talent shows. When you become ill and look around you won't be wishing you worked more hours, you'll be wishing you spent more time with the wife and kids. Once you get past fifty it's unlikely your going to make it as far as hitting the big time goes - it aint going to happen just relax and enjoy the autumn of your working life.  ;D

Part of the trouble is I have got those iconic buildings, maybe if i didnt have them i would still be lusting.

Trouble is when you have got them, they whack you out, they are hard work, you have to fit them in around your other stuff.

I have got my son working with me tommorrow to give us a break, trying to talk him out of joining the marines next month, might get him to get a mate and work the round.

Clive, that is one thing I don't need? Why? I'm a happy go lucky type of guy, I'll help anyone who needs help and only if I'm able too.

When I was 20 years old, something happened in my life that changed the way I see and treat people today.
I now give respect to everyone I meet or talk to but on one condition I get respect back.

10 years ago I was given my business and for that I have always been grateful to old Stan and Stuart.
I've paid my mortgage off, I have money in the Bank and I don't owe any money to anyone.

The Boss has MS and I'm still healthy, so why shouldn't I give back something that was given to me all those years ago?
I now want to stay at home and look after the Boss and the way I run and expanded my business over those ten years, has enabled me to do this and helped me save for that rainy day, and it was all done without being selfish.

I was going to give my business away to a member of the Training Academy, until my eldest girl heard what I was about to do, Not thinking any of my 3 Trad trained girls would want to do wfp work, How wrong was I.

I am now training up my eldest girl to take over the business in September of this year, after September of this year, I will no longer have a w/c business but I will continue to help her if she needs it and for as long as she needs it, I would have done the same if it was the forum member.

I will also continue with my conservatory and guttering work as and when it comes in, if that goes tits up, then so be it.
I will still have my 3 daughters, my seven grandchildren and most of all the Boss, plus my own happiness and a few bob in the bank.
What more can a man ask for?

So did Jonah really live in a whale
well it says he was swallowed by a " great fish " , so it could have been a great white shark or a sperm whale !  What you have to remember is that it was god who miraculously kept him alive  ;D
