Title: What diameter hose to you use
Post by: Ian Rochester on May 31, 2008, 06:25:38 am
We're after another hose and reel and I was wondering what hoses people are using, we currently use a 10mm hose and also have an 8mm Minibore hose and reel from Freedom which I quite like but it's a tight fit on the reel it comes with.

Was wondering about going down to 6mm, but just wanted some feedback as to what others are using or have used and which they prefer and why.

If you are using more than one size hose, you can vote more than one, but please give an explanation.

Cheers.............Ian

I've only used 6mm microbore. But in just over 2 years running it with a flojet pump have had no problems or leaks of any kind.
100 metres fits on the rell easily as well.

I have 2 reels of 6mm and its now 2.5yrs old and the end 30/40mtrs is showing its age , now I think is a good time to turn it around on the reel because the other end looks like new

Never used Microbore, but I'm using 100m Minibore with a Digital Varistream, and Shurflo pump with no flow problems at all.

We use 8mm,  100mtrs on each.

6mm can have flow problems from what I read about it, what pumps are you using.

It's for our Thermopure system, I think they are Shurflo 100psi pumps.  I want to be able to run two hoses off the system at once, but I also want to keep the space they take up to a minimum.

We have one of Freedoms blue reels with 100m of 8mm hose on, but the reel is just a bit too small for the amount of hose and it can be a little bit top heavy when it's fully wound on and topples over.  I would like to try it with a 6mm reel for size but more importantly to make sure it performs.
