Has anyone read the Guardsman Policy underwritten by Pincle insurance
Does it mean that during the 5 years the policy is in force it can only be cleaned by authorised cleaner ie Safeclean?

My father-in-law had such a policy and from memory yes you were limited to certain cleaning companies.
The other thing that stuck out was that there was an awful lot of "wriggle room" in the wording which would allow Guardsman to get out of being responsible for stains.
It was about 5 years ago that I read this so don't jump down my throat if the wording has changed in the interim.

Safeclean are owned by the same company that owns Guardsman so its logical they use there own franchise to carry out their warranty work and advise that cleaning should be done by them.

As long as it "professionally" cleaned, Guardsman cannot enforce who cleans it.

Guardsman (Valspar) do not actually state that you have to only use Safeclean (also owned by Valspar) to clean furnishings under the policy - if I remember rightly?
However, if it was proven that the item has been badly cleaned by someone else then I suppose they could feasibly 'wriggle' out of responsibility saying that may have affected the protector etc, but they would never know this unless the custy actually told them of a bad clean ::), or if a safcelean technician could poss tell this when on a stain removal visit.
Their policy wording is pretty tight though and covers all angles - as you would expect from a national/international company.

Whats professionally cleaned mean. How and who judges this.
In a case like this could it be suggested that the item must be cleaned by an NCCA member as then at least their trained to a specific level and so youd expect the item to be cleaned to that standard.
Just a thought.
