Title: Argh, tank lid keeps unscrewing itself. New problem page 2.
Post by: [GQC] Tim on May 27, 2008, 10:41:28 pm
The tank cage and tank is such a tight fit, that the tank lid, is right next to the tank cage's upper bar, literally a very tight fit, if I screw the lid on,  the notches hit the tank cage everytime.

Anyway every time I brake or turn a corner, the tank moves ever so slightly, and somehow it unscrews the lid a bit.

Water was everywhere, only noticed it on the way back from delivering wfp switch letters to my customers. Now what do I do.  :(

File the notches down slightly, that may help if its to close.
or can you not bend the bar away from the lid?

Good idea, I'll try to file the notches off a bit first, then as a last resort the big hammer. It's very very though steel though haha, gotta be careful that I don't hit the tank!  ;D
Title: New problem!
Post by: [GQC] Tim on May 29, 2008, 12:27:01 am
Fixed the tank lid, used my dremel and got them all off, it doesn't unscrew anymore.

New problem though!

I've got a vented lid on my tank, the newer style tanks have them. And when my tank is full, the water just comes out after sharp steering.

What is up with that? When looking at the vent from the inside, I wouldn't say there could every be getting water through past all those bends.

 :( :(

Driving me nuts this.

Plus I hit the connector on the hosereel again, jumped off, water spouting everywhere. Backpack fell over as well in the van. Sheesh.  :'(

The tube you use for your hose, get a spare bit and put it onto the vent and stick the other end through a small hole in your van somewhere!

But the problem is jeff, it's one of those mushroom head vents? The water shouldn't come out.

Ignore the tank, look at the lid.

To be honest then Tim, if I had that trouble? I would stick silicon on and seal it, I would then do my own vent hole, I used an elbow the size of our brush Y pieces.

Or Drive slower ;D  ;D

I'll try and find a cap, and screw it on on the inside, but pierce it with a pin, so it can't get vacuum sucked.

Pfff, all for cleaning windows ey.  ;D

its only water

Stinks like a swamp and rots the van if it gets passed the protecta coat. Surely you wouldn't feel happy if there was a puddle of water in the van? :)

I just drilled a hole in the lid and fitted the little elbow, then if its needed you can stick a tube on it and run it out of your van somewhere.
