Just bought a second hand freedom trolley. Im going to set it up over weekend. I know nothing about pure water and how to make it. My tap water reads 128. Is this good or bad. Ive got a ro thing but someone has mentioned polishing it off with resin.
Any help would be appreciated cheers.

How much are we talking to buy one

around £100 for a pollyglass vessel complete with resin and fittings
or around £40 for 10" filter vessel with refilable cartridge, resin and fittings.

this would all depend on the size you wanted 11 ltr £79 + vat 25 ltr £99 + vat 1400 ml £41.50 + vat these prices are from window cleaning warehouse resin around £70 a bag , try a search on e-bay for di units .

So the ro unit that comes with the trolley does not bring the tds reading down to 0

give x-line a ring on 0115-939-4444 hes a supplier whos recently started up in nottingham hes on this forum at the moment .

ro units can bring tds down to 000ppm but the di will make sure of this .

Cheers for the offer basil, ive been on the blower to the guy who i bought it off and because he lives in a soft water area he never needed the di. But he suggested getting it set up with the ro and find out what the reading is. If it is crap then get a di.
How do you do yours basil from a trolley, backpack or van. I watched the clips of grounddog the other day and he has inspired me into wfp.

I make mine at home and store in a 1000ltr Ibc then transfere to a tank in the back of my van and use either a back pack or trolly to clean customers properties, again your welcome to come and have a look.

Hi Birdy.
If you want any advice or help at all in setting it up feel free to call me at the office on 01472 347519. You may or may not need a DI with a tap reading as low as yours.
The reason you have a DI is to get rid of the last few percentage of solids that RO units dont remove. I am happy to explain it all to you so that you will easilly set it up.

cheers andrew just been in garage arranging all the gear. My brother in law is a plumber so hes comin out to fit me an tap in the garage and some plumbing for the waste. Once its up and running ill see what it produces and maybe i might need a di and some resin. god im getting good at this i know all the jargon, what a difference 24 hours can make in wfp lol :)

Just one important thing. If the RO hasnt been used for a while give it a good flush for 20 mins or so. If it's one of our ROs just turn the black tap to the FLOW position to do this. Then turn it the only way it will turn. thats quarter of a turn (This is the normal production position) and run it for 20 to 30 mins BEFORE you put the product pipe into the DI. This is because TDS creep will have occured and the TDS out at the start will be high. It will go down minute by minute until it bottoms out.

will do cheers, might need some help if the filters need changing, are they expensive. Another thing whilst i think on the guy who sold it me told me it takes about 12 hours to fill the 210 litre water butt, is this right.

Just fixed a hose on to my ro unit and turned water supply on. Got water coming out of red waste pipe and the ro is gurgling but no sign of water from the blue pipe. How long does it take before water comes out been on for 5 minutes. Just wondering if im doing something wrong :).

Panic over. Just checked and ive got pure water coming out of blue pipe. Just checked a cup full with tds meter and it read 0. Thought this cant be right so tested tap water and it read 128.Then tested my pure again 0 again. So this is good isnt it. Just got alot more waste than pure but this normal isnt it. ???

Can you get better ro units that dont waste that much or are they all the same.

you can but if your not on a meter and its producing enuff water for what you need it for then my moto is if its not broke dont fix it!

I wasnt going to start using it just yet. I was going to carry on cleaning trad for a few more weeks making sure that all the frames upstairs get a good wipe. But not sure if i can wait that long. Do you think i should just get stuck in or take my time. ???

get stuck in mate take your time it wont be easy but it will come. use squeegee off or unger liquid on your trad as this will help reduse spotting when you change over

I would practice for a day or two on your own and friends houses.
It's not so much about getting decent results although you want them really. It's more about getting used to handling the kit and looking confident and compotent when you set yourself loose on customers.
There's nothing worse than looking clumsy when you are introducing something new.

There is a "How to" there and also an explanation leaflet that you can customise to have your own details on it. It's much better having a few of these to hand out to the customers who ask you what you are doing and how it works.

Birdy , when you do convert, break yourself in gently eg.don't do like I did and suddenly stop trad and start wfp,as your 1st cleans take longer as more attention is needed to frames. Set urself a target of a certain amount of jobs per day wfp and trad the rest say,6wfp .Each week add another couple on per day so you don't get too far behind.

You were up nice and early kirky, smashing morning round this way. Get me some when you can mate and let me know and ill come over and pick them up cheers. Not going to bother with the wrexham company, ive got 5 that fit the trolley so another 5 off you should do me. Cant wait fo my brother in law to fit me tap in garage so i can get some proper water pressure. At moment got ro fitted up to a diy outside tap and pressure is poor. Had it on since 4 yesterday afternoon and got about 120 litres, thats not good is it ???
