Title: New Consumer Protection Regulations
Post by: Dennis on May 24, 2008, 03:56:29 pm
On 26 May 2008, new regulations affecting all UK businesses that trade with consumers will come into force.

The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations will ban 31 types of unfair commercial practices outright. They will also, for the first time, establish a general principle not to trade unfairly, use aggressive selling techniques or mislead consumers, helping to close loopholes previously exploited by ‘rogue traders’.

This means, for example, that you must not:
use bait and switch tactics - ie offer goods for sale at a specified price with a view to selling a different product at a higher price.

I would say all professional cleaners have not got a problem with this and its carry on as normal,  its the rip offs that have to watch out.

I read it in the paper, obviously the government didn't feel the need to send it to me.  ;) ;D

Complete waste of time an paper.

Everyday I get calls from scousers trying to scam me, letters telling me I've won something, watching watchdog where guys take money and then dissapear.

Why don't the Government go after these people? All that will happen is some silly old so and so with nothing better to do will be a pain in everybodies arse except the crims.
