Did a job today on a con roof (GLASS) not very big at all 8 panels with a window in one (leanto) type.
After 2 hours I gave up I tried everything I had to remove the little black spots nothing worked, tfr, wfp, hot soapy water, sugar soap, gg4, pressure washer it would not budge, in the end I said to the lady this just is not coming off, she said it looks cleaner so thats good, I charged half the price as I was embarrassed, I said I would come back and get another cleaning agent for it and not charge she is over the moon anyway.
what else is there that will get this off, the glass seems to have a mirror finish never had this problem with a con roof ever this has stumped me.

What's the con roof made of? Glass? Polycarbonate?

has the pigmants gone on the roof? ie discoloured. or is it just muck that wont budge?

The little black spots are probably mould. Get a couple of those silver non-abrasive scourers from Asda (35p each) and glue them to a cut-down T-bar...loads of soapy water and scrub.
Works a treat and never a scratch in sight.

i didnt realise you meant glass. cant you put a scrapper on the end of a pole?

muck, rest of glass is sparkling thousands of little spots (they come off to a non scaratch scour pad after say a 15 sec scrub hard on glass I got off about 1inch by 1 inch in half a min, not doing it all like that as would be there about 2 weeks and there is no access other than my reach.

Sounds like the mould has etched the glass. Don't think there's a lot you can do about it. I think 2 weeks of your time would be more expensive than replacing the cons roof ;D

I can only suggest putting a scraper on the end of your pole. If that doesn't shift it then I don't think anything will... :)

bleach? as harsh at that sounds, i cleaned dads caravan and it had black spots on the roof, the bleach took them off!

Its not self clean glass is it.
Some crud is a pain to shift of that. Almost glues itself to the surface.

litchin, its a bum, the only way to get it off patios or driveways, is to use a very powerful pressure washer, mine is 3600psi, and only when i hold the nozzle one inch away it gets it off,
i had it once on a conservatory, i used a yellow microfiber sill cloth on the end of some bamboo, which i found, and it came off, but if its on there your best bet is to get some Powerfull, hard surface cleaner from janitorial supplies, wont shift, it but its softens, so you can get it off with the cloth

quite a few of my punters have used one of these sprayable fence treatments near cons ,the result is black/ brown spraydrift on the plastic and glass
could it be this ??

bump, any more ideas

Ian, i'm a bit stumped over this "mirror finish" is it a special coating or something or mirrored glass? I'm wondering if it's breaking down much in the same way as a normal mirror does with black spots?
-
:o Seems like the customer needs a new roof/conservatory...
Tell her that ::)
Tell her you have wasted enough time on it already! :o
Offer to demolish it for her! 8) 8) 8)

Try products for killing algae/moss.
"mossgo" is a good one, and "chloras" is a multi-purpose chlorine based steriliser that I find helps with black spots on footpaths when I'm powerwashing (its cheap too, €16 for 5 gallons!)
