Title: protector on awning?

Can protectors work on my canvass trailor tent? I have access to water and solvent craftex protector, Or should i bite the bullett and pay the price for the silicone based stuff?

Wouldn't use silicon based as they are known for promoting resoiling and in the states they are banned due to them making textiles highly flamable. A water based protector should be fine. Why not test an area and try for repellancy?

Stu I have used water base protectors for years on my caravan awnings with No problems.
Its far cheaper to use  than the weather proofing supplied by camping stores and in my opion last just as long.
Resoiling all I can say is Bar Humbug.
I'm off to Manchester on Saturday to collect my new trailer tent and stand and listen to the sales guy quite facts and figures about their super dooper water proof coating only to reply "its O.K chap i've got me own Ta. ;D

cheers for replies next time im camping ill give it a spray as you say alot cheaper than buying the stuff from the camping shops!
