Hi Ian

you need a good hard brush to go on the end of your pole thing

and plenty of elbow grease ;D

regards

Brett.

stick a scourer on the edge of your brush. then you turn it on its edge to rub it off, turn it back to rinse

i have had one where the window and frame were covered in a really thick mess from the starling nests above i soaked the window then scrubbed away with my oldest brush till it was all gone came off no problem though the white upvc frame did stay stained then soaked the brush in a bucket of water before i put it back in the van

Yeah stick that on your brush and scratch the glass, try it with the end of your applicator cover the one with the little green scourer on the end. They scratch glass to bits.

;) I would ask to do a test section just to see how hard it would be!
Then price up after a more realistic quote (or give hourly rate)

I don't want to be a scare monger... but remember "Bird Flu" can be spread by bird faeces
as a precaution wear gloves (mask?) when coming in contact with  large amounts of this matter  :P  :P
It's that time of year again!

I am not a scientist before anyone starts...it's just a thought!  8)  ;D  :)

But have you ever looked at the same bit at another time you`ve gone to clean them, you can`t see it at the time it`s at different angles in the sun where it shows up.Also don`t ever try to get birds mess off your car-van like that or you`ll know what i mean straight away.

I've found that the water must be 000 to be effective on bird poo. Even at 002 it isn't as good.

Another point is that seed-eating birds consume large amounts of grit as a part of their diet.

This is taken from Wikipedia:

Gizzard stones
Some animals that lack teeth will swallow stones or grit to aid in digestion. All birds have gizzards, but not all will swallow stones or grit. The birds that do, employ the following method of 'mastication':

"A bird swallows small bits of gravel that act as 'teeth' in the gizzard, breaking down hard food such as seeds and thus helping digestion." (Solomon et. al, 2002).
These stones are called gizzard stones or gastroliths and are usually smooth and round from the polishing action in the animal's stomach. When too smooth to do their required work, they may be passed or regurgitated.

Therfore, don't use a sponge or scrubber on bird poo or you're rubbing the windows with grit.

Let the water do the work and just melt the stuff away.

??? No way on earth it scratches the glass NWH, I'm sorry but I've been using that since forever, and it just doesn't. Have you ever used it yourself, because the only way you can say that, is if you've never used it, it works great, no scratches. :)

Btw, car paint, heck even the car windows are a completely different thing to glass that we clean.

just use the white scourer,

or dip your brush in a bucket of hard surface cleaner etc, scrub it on and wait a little while, maybe 2 mins, and then scrub and scrub and scrub

could you not use a jet wash ian ?  white vinager diluted then sprayed on to the bird mess then leave to soak should help remove the mess , i sometimes use this on glass when its really baked on it helps to soften the mess .

I use a pole to clean my car/van.  Well actually about six of them, down at the 24hr Soapy Simons all night car wash. ;D
