Turned up to one of my regulars today and they had all new windows fitted with posh wooden frames all hand made lovely..............except every pane had finger prints and palm prints where some hamfisted fitter had left them. I had nothing in the van that would touch it and told her to get the fitter back out and sort it out. Luckily she still paid me even though they looked crap!

You couldn't get it off with wfp? I thought all this, finger prints will melt away fancy stuff was real.  ;D

Agreed, oil flo will work nicely.

I still carry trad extender poles (and not harris either). An applicator on the end (one of those with a rought side) and some fairy. Then WFP.

I used to do con roofs like this in the olden days.

Would have told the customer of my extra trouble though.

Does oil flow shift silicone? If it does i'll get some.

If it is silicone then it will have cured, and the only way to get it off is by scraping.  Silicone adhesives are insoluble, that's what makes them such good sealers.

Don't make any promises you can't keep, and make sure she gets that stupid fitter back - all silicone smears must be removed with the appropriate solvent before they have a chance to cure.

Thanks Ian, thats what i thought, there was no way i was going to get a blade on those windows anyway i told her to get the fitters to sort it out.

Earlier today i had another house with the most solid baked on bird poo i've ever seen. I flipped my Vikan over and gave it a scrape with the velcro strip i have glued to the edge, sounded a bit gritty! So i tried it on my wing mirror and sure enough it scratched that (not with the velcro but the plastic). I apologised to the owner and aked them to check the window but she couldn't see anything. I'm convinced it's wrecked though. :( I reckon it must have been a seagull eating stones for breakfast.

buy some silicone eater ;D
comes in mastic gun tubes
about 6 to 8 quid
b+q,focus etc
put small amount on a ROUGH cloth
rub it over the sealant
remove resulting jelly with scraper
DONT get it on the sealant round the window ;D
