Just for those who were interested, the WCW Backpack pump is 80psi, not 40psi as previous mentioned and explains why it is outperforming the Shureflo!
-
hi foxman ,i got mine the other day from wcw,and the flow rate ia awsome, infact to fast ,i used about 9-10 ltrs of water on two windows, went down to my local supplier and purchaced a flow switch, hopefully this would give me more control.
-
that sounds good, but what about spare parts, are they available,
-
there are NO spare parts available for the WCW backpack, but its a good piece of kit, Luke
-
Luke, spare parts are now available!
-
Luke, spare parts are now available!
now we are talking, i might get one as a spare, the only fault i see with it, is it is not transparent, like the shurflo to see the water level going down, or you will end up with air traps, or knacker the pump if it goes dry,

jouk you can see the level as its going down .

cool 8) well if thats the case, shurflo had better buck up their ideas, or they will lose a lot of sales, thanks for the info guys

The wcw backpack looks a bit naff though, don't you think?
The Shurflo has got a carrying handle, in case any one is about to add that it hasn't, and its neatly tucked behind the back pad.
You don't need a to add a flow controller, as it has four speed settings, and setting number 1 is plenty powerful enough, even working at 30 feet. Setting four is ridiculous!
Don't forget the shurflo holds more like 18-19 litres, and you can get to the switch whilst its on your back.
One thing I find a bit annoying is that when the thing is sat on the ground or on a trolley, you can't easily get to the switch as it's underneath, so wcw is better in this application.
-
After having the wcw backpack for a month i can say its pros far out weigh the cons. Shurflos would play up ALL the time& it made using it a real pain!
-
watch tuppence clean when he see's this post
he will of course have something bad to say about it
who wants a bet
-
at £80plus vat its a good cheap .backup .i have a shurflo used it 3 times n the switch conked out .fair play to cleantech .they sent me a replacement . thanks guys

Ahhh the magic words are "Open sesame" ;)

I have got 2 backpacks sat in the shed, neither use nor ornament.
I bought them for a job then realised they have got an outside tap so that plan failed misreably.
-
Thought psi rating was just the cut off pressure of the pump not how powerful the pump itself is, that's down to the flow rate (lpm) surely.
If so what are the lpm figures?
-
The PSI or Bar rating is the force that the particular pump will pressurise the water up to.
The flow rate is the amount of water pushed out per minute at full open flow.
You could have a 30 lpm pump that has only 30 psi or conversly a 1 lpm pump that has 160 psi.
-
Maybe lacking in the looks department but.....
Better pump
Lumo yellow means hi-vis = safer!
So far, its proved much more reliable than the Shureflo
and
Half the price!!
ive got to agree the wcw backpack is better than shurflo ive used both packs and wcw comes out top for me .
-
I wish i'd read this thread before i ordered my shurflo :-\
-
can someone please post close up pics of all angles of the wcw backpack, thanks,
-
The WCW is not meant to be repaired, anyone managed to replace the pump or battery ?

jeff these would be easy to change really straight forward just a cople of screws hold the pump and battery in place , ive not replaced them but had the bottom off to find out psi of pump , and its all straight forward to replace the items if needed to . jouk will try and do some photos later for you .

So why quote a figure of a given pump 40psi(shurflo backpack) so its not so good as an 80psi one(wcw backpack).
I was also told by a supplier that my 100 psi shurflo pump when used in conjunction with a varistream that has its internal blue dial set on maximum, will give a pressure way way in excess of 100psi, so the psi rating is what I originally said and thats the pressure that the switch kicks in cutting the pump off.
I'm sure Alex mentioned he uses a 100psi pump but with a 60 psi pressure switch

Whas your question?
-
:) what's wrong with the shurflo backpack, mine's the latter model (cant remember the number).
It work a treat, never had a problem with it! ;D
If I had seen this wcw backpack I would have bought that one if cheaper! :'(
Personally I think we are all paying too much for these items! ;)

-

Both hold 16 litres
Somehow that got missed
-
Well done for bringing a new improved product to the market Glyn,
but haha man that first backpack is ugly!! ;D

Got my wcw backpack today for town shops no trailing hose and also ground floor windows for partimers.
The wcw back pack is great it has a carrying handle and shoulder straps but very heavy when full.
I have an inline tap to control the flow and also if this wasnt repairable the parts are replacable nothing stopping you from putting longer battery in and a bigger pump as they are all screwed into the bottom but it works fine as it is
Ive used a surflo too.sorry wcw outdoes it buy price and use
