Any pole of that height shouldn`t have a drop of fiber glass in it,regardless of it being a well built pole or not it`s heavy. If you work at that height on a regular basis buy a SL2.

Are the xtel carbon hybrids very rigid?
-
They are until you pull the very top section out, I always leave this section in, unless its needed.

Here is a chart from some of our tests.

No good for the height you want it for,i wouldn`t go any higher than 24ft on that pole it`s to heavy and to bendy. It`s a mix of carbon and glass fiber but way more glass fiber if you ask me,the base section is massive and nowdays is a dated pole. All you need is the SL2 which you can take up to 60-70ft depending on your budget and the SLX for 30ft to ground floor work, save your money and spend a bit more if you know what i mean.

i see your point mate, they appear rigid and i have used 39ft gfs all day before lol,so i guess the sl's are the way forward ;)

I've got one- I don't like it. Very often I use step ladders with my 17' xtel to avoid using it. It's mainly for roof windows and veluxs, but on scond floor and ground I switch back because it's too heavy (for me).
I'm a strong lad and always have been but it's too much for me. Originaly I got the 28' hybryd and loved it, so alex sent me some bits to lenghten it. Another chap pittmonkey posted only yesterday that his 28' was too arduos and he's getting a 17' for knock about.
Alex's slx 25 seems the best, and if you have to go high the sl2. I have always used step ladders too.
Sorry to be negative- but i've got a 24' universal that I hardly use because it's a scaffold pole.

I've got a friend who uses xtel glass fibre pole at the same length for every thing.
I use hybrid x-tel (same length) for all my work, and I think its great!
The same question was asked not that long ago, check out the comments made then:www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=54154.0#msg457066 (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=54154.0#msg457066)

Is your 35 footer carbon mix?
-
I've got the hybrid at 36 ft and think it's the bees knees, but then the other pole i had for high jobs was an old carbon 45 ft can't wait to get my hands on the sl2 and the slx

I thinks so- an xtel hybrid they're orange.
The problem is that poles have developed so fast in the last year. The facelift was the best but it was too expensive and there was not stock, then about this time last year the hybrid was cheaper and took the shows by storm. Since then alex has come along and done it all better and cheaper.
A year ago me and everybody else would be saying yeah buy it, it's nearly as good as a facelift and half the price, now my opinion is get the slx and use steps.
-
I agree with some of that Discount but the Hybrid is not in the same street as the facelift, the facelift is still up there with the best of them.

And using a pole with steps is a big no no, but i see your points discount!!

Don't post that you agree with me.
The face lift is £900, so to comment that it is right up there with the best is a bit redundant.

You need a fibre glass base section for protection against electrocution.

You don`t honestly think a bit if fiber glass is going to save you do you,if it happens your holding a rod-pole full of water mate your be fried anyway. The law says it has to be fiber glass on the base section or H&S,it dosen`t say it will save your life cos the chances are it won`t.

I bought a 35 ft Hybrid at Windex from Window Cleaning Warehouse (Unger version). For occasional work above 1st floor (maybe 2 or 3 times a day) it's ideal. Far more rigid than the 33 ft X-tel glass pole I was using before, and feels lighter because it's easier to use.
Maybe if I had to use it all day I would have bought a carbon fibre pole, but with the price difference being several hundred pounds, I'm happy with what I've got ;D
