How many litres of water do you use per hour ? Just need to work out how big a tank I need to buy . Thank you ;D
-
don't go for anything less than 500ltr.
-
I would agree with 500l min, but always better to have to much than to little.

if you grow you will, thats something you really need to sit down and think about to be honest because a little more at the start can save alot of hassle and money if you dont get it right from the start ;)

500 min. The more water u use the quicker u are IMO . Within reason

If doing commercial work I allow 100 ltrs an hour per person(constant use). But remember you have breaks and then there is the setting up time etc. I find on my largest commercial jobs allowing for what I just said 500 ltrs will go for about six hours for me.(I have a 500 ltr tank) However if two of us are working 2.5 hours its empty!!!
Domestic I can go all day and use about 300 ltrs as long as ther are no first cleans as then I use more.
;)

Thanks for the insight ;D I have been stressing for a bit now trying to choose the right system with the right van , but at the moment I only have a full weeks work ! I only travell a few miles to work , so if i ever run out I can always pop home and top up . My mind is finally at rest . . . . thank you ;D

Jonah , you mean you are topping up from a waterbutt at home... already filled with pure water... or do you mean with a di vessel?.... as you can top up anywhere with that.
also .. you only have a weeks work?..... are you having a laugh ??? ;D... you have been commenting on this forum for quite a while as an experience window cleaner ,
and you have also posted that you learnt your trade in illingworth, years ago.
clear this up for me Mr jonah. ??? :o

Also Jonah, litres per house would give you a better average imo..if mainly ressy.

You have 650 tank in expert ?
-
yes. upright...
i know about the limits... but i dont totally fill it , and when i do its a quarter empty in no time..... will fit nicely in my next van lol.
arse ways about eh. ;D
-
I did the same,.. went wfp when I had a pug partner, but bought the biggest tank I could physically squeeze into it and then changed for a bigger van as soon as I could!
Jonah,... 300 - 400 litres a day will be more than enough for an average day,.. BUT don't plan for an AVERAGE day,.. plan for the longest busiest day you can imagine,.... you can never have too much water, but its very easy to have too little.
I'd recommend a 650 litre tank for a 1 man setup if your van will take it. I have a 400 litre tank and I do find it too small on busy days.
If you're in a soft water area, topping up DI only from a custies tap might be an option (With their permission!), and a smaller tank might be an option then,.. but for the extra few ££££ a bigger tank is a sensible option.

This is totally doing my head in ! Looked at about 30 vans so far , and looking at the payloads . What I want is for my existing customers , but want enough space/ payload for new custys ( have 20 waiting for me to start )

I hate you nat ! You have just thrown a spanner into the works lol

you need a tranny or vivaro, or similar for a 650 tank..... i think.

Van dealer I saw slated vivaros . . . . said engines were rubbish ! He said transits were the real deal ( his words not mine )
-
i dont know Jonah, its just what i read on here...
post which van... see what replies you get.

I have a LWB Citroen Dispatch. It is fitted with an upright 500ltr tank. I only have ever need more for a full days commercial when I have been working with somebody else. I live in a soft water area so topping up is a good option for me. If I lived in a hard water area I would have a bigger tank, but 500 ltrs is all I ever need on my own

Jonah
we have a pug expert HDI (900kg payload) with a 650ltr tank - its well within limits. 650 tank only holds 600ltrs (checked this on the weighbridge)
600ltr water = 600kg
tank = 45kg
driver = 80kg
all other equipment = 50kg (nowhere near that, more like 20kg)
fuel = 50kg
total = 825kg
thats a full tank, driver and tank of fuel.
when it was on the weighbridge there was a full tank of water, fuel, myself and scrooge (guy that works for me)
GVW was 62kg within limit.
And remember you are using that water up all day long - buy an Expert HDI, 650 tank and away you go. If you have oney to burn consider a Brodex E650 and bargain with them, they will barter.
-
my expert is 500kg
-
my expert is 500kg
what? Payload? - the older ones have 2 payloads,825kg and 900kg

oh heck alan, i will have to check... i must have been wrong all this time.... and comfortable. ::)
