Title: Link codes
Post by: davep on May 14, 2008, 02:25:51 pm
G'day,

Is it better to use a link code when giving someone your site details rather than just the details?

I have only passed details up to now, hope i haven't wasted my time  :-X

Opinions vary on that one Dave.

A few of the sites that have got my link on come up well on google without a link code, so i don't think it matters that much.

There's also the fact that some people don't know how to put the link codes on there sites, so you would have to turn people away.

How's your site doing with google anyway?

depends if the other person knows how to link to you, giving the link code just makes it easier for them and less likely their get it wrong. Use both on your links page and then its fool proof.

Ta Mark, did you have a look at seoing my site?

Art, my site is 12 weeks old and is number 1 for sofa/furniture cleaners in liverpool, about page 2-3 for carpet cleaning in liverpool, big difference if the 'in' word is used..

Got an issue with search's done with pages from the uk selected as i am not there at all   ???

My domain is hosted in Germany i think and is a .com, i may need to change it to .co.uk but am unsure   ::)

Dave, i think that was one of the mistakes i made with my .com site. If you search google with the uk sites only option then it's not brilliant, if you search all of the web then it's number one for most searches.
My latest site the .co.uk was number one within a week on any kind of search.

I can't see the point in changing it to a .co.uk Dave. Just build another site with a .co.uk there cheap enough to have and the more sites the better chance you've got of getting calls
