Got a quote from yp for directory, 118 24 7, and yell.com = totall £747 ! And can pay in installments ! Been advertising through local paper for a few months , and built up a bit of work , but I want to aim for bigger properties / small commercial . What is best wording for advert to target this work ? Thank you please ;D

I think the 1st line should read OMG do you know how much this add cost me

Ive spent that much already on local paper ! But it has paid for itself a few times over ! You dont think yp is a goer ?

NO, have a look how many advertise in your yellow pages. Your percentage return will be very low.

Its a area thing! some areas it works well, some it doesn't, personal I would not go for the 118 24 7, just yell.com and maybe yellow pages
-
I have used yellow pages for the past two years and the first year i got loads of work from it the second year not so much so this year i am trying yell.com to see if their is any improvement

There's a free listing with Yell.com ;)

Google Adwords is better value, but you need to have a website.
Its pay-per-click advertising that you can set the price you're willing to pay for each click, highest bidders get shown.
You can set your monthly spend limits. The returns for commercial work is far greater than Yell.
This is a good way to get your company seen regularly, at least until you get your fist page ranking on free Google.
We were spending £200 per month on Adwords (we set that limit) and achieved at least £500 p/m return.
Stopped using it now cos we managed to get a first page listing on the natural listings which is free.
With Yell you got a lot more domestics. Everyone one in commercials sits in front of a pc all day so generally look for services by searching Google.

I have a full package with Yell, yes i have had a couple of jobs from this but i don't think its good value for money and i haven't made my 700 odd quid a year back, i will be looking at other avenues when my contract expires, i think it depends on the area of the country you live in, quite a few advertise on it in Leeds!!!!
