I've tried to ring you on your mobile number, but no answer, I will try again later.

xtel normallt spit if uver extended, they is there fault, you may not have done this today I I would bet money it has been done before hand, if you start hearing a cracking sound this is what it is, thing with them is after time they extend more and more causing the problem you now have, I have done this twice now but they are cheap to replace so no real harm done.

I'm very impressed with Alex replying to this.(I mean helping the guy get a pole because he can't work without it)
I agree WW i've broke two xtels 17' and it's my fault for having the sections out too far- but it's still a great pole. It's my c;umsyness that puts me off the slx, breaking something at £300 is different to £65. Also when clearly gets another one and he breaks it it will be in a different place so he can still make a pole out of the the bits remaining.
-
wow ive just got home and now all sorted how about that for customer service 10 outa 10 , especially as its well after closing hours, i can appreciate its a buisness but this is exellent, imagine if i or anyone got a call to wfp a house now.......would you ?, im sure id leave it untill tomorrow......... very much appreciated alex thanks :)

Alex, I placed an order today at 4.45pm Did I beat the deadline for delivery before the Holiday Shut?
Cheers

You are not on your own, I have got 4 excell poles in the van, all split , snapped or repaired repaired on nearly every section.
If there ever was a fragile crap pole that is them
-
Ian
I have had them snap half way down the sections loads of times even got a No 4 section snap clean in half, half way down the section
-
I just ordered a 17ft :'(

You did Wayne, all packed ready to go out in the morning.
Due to popular demand (and twisting a member of staff's arm) we have extended the pole deadline until tomorrow morning.

Cheers Alex,
Wayne
Keep cracking the whip ;D they'll thank you in the end

i suppose there should be a warning on these then "dont waist your money" its no wonder the s-lx has gone down so well, about time a good pole was invented looks like ill have to invest.....................................now wheres that balance transfer credit card?
-
I wouldn't be too hasty Lee. I have a 28ft H-xtel and has been in constant use over the past 9 mths but now is getting a little tired in some parts. So getting the 17ft G-xtel will preserve the life of the more expensive pole( H-XTEL) Hopefully !! :)

I've got to stick up for the xtel they are both brilliant and cheap. It may well be that Alex was where the closed lenght idea came from but the poles that went before them were awfull.
They are cheap (by comparison) and great to work with.
I want an slx, but the question is am I too clumsy?
Pittmonkey ive got the hybrid 35- don't like it too heavy.
-
One of the reasons I went for the 28ft was the weight knowing I was intending to use it 95% of the time.
This 17ft option on around 50% of my work will now give me a bit of a breather. (especially in this heat) while also prolonging the life of the 28ft

You'd have to be either very, very heavy handed or jeff capes to break the sl-x. The best investment you can make in wfp is the pole IMO. ;)

now where getting somewhere tony the slx is better than facelift , true or not i find face lift great but youve used both so lets have a true write up mate and if you are coming to barnsleyperhaps a meet up so i can see the pole mate ;D

It's a tricky one dave, there's not much in it. The sl-x IMO is the better pole but you see, it falls between two facelift choices (actual) 21ft & 27ft with the sl-x being (actual) 25ft.
There's more to it than that but the sl-x is lighter & more rigid.

At £65 the extel is an expensive pole, my B&Q pole costs just £15 and is absolutely brilliant!!! I earnt more than enough today using my £15 to buy an slx, but guess what? I won't be wasting my money, as the B&Q pole suits me just fine!!!
Don't be mugs!! Get down to B&Q!!!!!!! ;D
-
Groundog
Was that £430 on your own and was that with the B&Q all day ?
-
groundhog
is this 5m harris ???
did you drill it or just wrap round hose
what about adapter
-
I'd much sooner get on with earning money. At £15 it is a full £50 cheaper than the rolls royce biult for the job £65 xtel pole. But what about the bodge time taken to cobble these make do and mend pole solutions together?
You're embarrasing groundhog.People who post £1500 pw businesses but brag about £15 poles and £200 systems want to take a step back and think about what they are saying.
-
thats rich ;D
you telling people to step back and think about what they are saying
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
and anyway its just a way of getting water onto glass
if it does the job so what ???
i would think that low overheads make sense if you are happy with the gear and making good money

My point exactly!!! ;)
I'm not looking for an arguement here, I'm just so impressed with this pole that I want to tell you all about it!! It really is great, in fact it is the best pole I have ever used!!! I started off in wfp using a powerpole, then moved onto an extel, followed by a converted unger pole, then a series of predators, but this 5metre Harris pole from B&Q is miles better than any of them!!!!! It may only be £15 but it has a feel of quality about it, and the sections move really smoothly when extending it, it has just the right stiffness, it is very light, and feels very strong and robust, and the clamps work great!. No silly holograms here, just a good honest, no nonesense, value for money pole!! ;D

;D would have gone for alook this week but getting up to date for short holiday and got lots of quotes to do too
so how have you done it :)
-
Hey Thorpy, I have drilled it and inserted the hose through the pole, I have simply copied the way that Dai described in his post on my thread 'Dai, advice on B&Q pole please' And even if I do say so myself it looks really good! Infact if I had never seen one before and somebody told me that it had cost £200 I would have believed it!!
It took me about 20mins to do it, and I would recommend to anyone to give it a go before they waste their money on an expensive pole!!! ;)
-
cheers mate i will find the thread and read through ;D
lower overheads = more profit
common sense surely
maybe i need to "step back and think about what i am saying"
;)

Easiest way for those that dont know how to remove rivets is to get cut 6" off a brush handle with a hacksaw, Addis is good, Unger is good, Bentley is a bit tight. Push it into the end of the Harris which you have cut off the adapter. Job done.
But the broom handle ends also fit into the Universal elbow. More later.
